I blame Haye for this mess, If he hadn't spunked his millions on being some sort of playboy we wouldn't have to had suffered Bellew like this. When Haye wins he hopefully gets Matchroomed into a fight with a Whyte on the promise of a Joshua bout and takes a beating.
Haye looks shot to me. He isn't the fighter he was and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bellew stop him again. I think he is done, even if he does beat Bellew.
Can't take too much from the workout imo, He appeared to have on some weird shoes too that seemed to be supporting his ankles, He may just be taking it easy not wanting to risk any injury prior to the fight. I am just interested to see what he weighs in at tomorrow, personally i think he was just way too heavy last time looking back on his old public work out video you can see his upperbody is HUGE compared to his lower legs, His lower body was simply not built to carry all of that weight, This alone is could have been a huge factor in the injury and lack of movement and speed. Hes looking FAR leaner and lighter this time which will be interesting. Just look at the size of his upper body compared to his legs here, He looks like a different person now. didn't haye spend most of the last few days before there last fight flying to Germany to have injections on the injury but it was being kept quiet as there was too much money at stake for haye to pull out. I take it it was torn pre fight and then he ruptured it during the fight. he looks in much better shape this time around, no limp or sliding leg haye will take his time not take any risks and will stop bellew late
Haye looks good in the sparring video. The delaying of the rematch due to the bicep issue may have been a blessing in disguise for Haye because that allowed more time for his achilles to heal which may not have been as strong 6 months ago as it is now. In the first fight he did fly out to Germany to see a specialist during fight week, and it was impossible for it to be kept quiet because if I recall he was not present in the build up to the fight and it got out that he was seeing a specialist. I think there's a good chance that his legs may not give out on him this time which should make the rematch a much better fight.
I think it's the injury to which Bellew refers when he keeps tell Haye he will take him into 'dark places'. He talks like he's capable of entering the realms of physical exhaustion no other human has dared to enter but what does he do differently to other boxers? And it's not as if he throws a high volume of punches either. It's the BS of a bully. What he's saying to Haye is 'I know you're injured'. He even implied that before the first fight and he has again prior to the rematch. Yeah, a major career-ending injury which makes him half the fighter he was. Fair enough, boxing is a ruthless sport and you exploit weaknesses but Bellew uses this to imply he's some form of boxing phenom. But I remember the Nathan Cleverly 2 fight among others. What 'dark place' did Clev visit, remind me? For this reason alone I hope Haye takes him out in the five rounds he's got to do it in. Bellew calls Haye arrogant and deluded but that's major league projection, right there...
Just checking Kirk, yes prime v prime, the fight wouldn't get made and if it did get made Haye would be accused of taking the pee
My only worry is that Bellew genuinely believes that he won the first fight on merit. He has barely acknowledged Haye's injury. It still took him 6 rounds to get rid of a one legged fighter AND he almost gassed out too. So his ring IQ is not as high as he makes it out to be.
I haven’t seen the public workout and don’t intend to but Haye is a master of the mind games and pre-fight tomfoolery. He also is known to bet on himself to stop opponents in rounds. If he really did look sluggish at the workout, it wouldn’t shock me if he has done that in order to sway the odds further in bellew’s favour. From what I’ve seen on his IG he is fully fit.
Wow can you imagine, if that happens I believe Hearn will have to escape the venue through a back door. If Sky/Matchroom serve up another PPV involving Haye and he breaks down again then I see a few problems for Sky PPV. They went ahead with the last fight with loads of rumours about Haye and his achilles and then surprise surprise Hayes achilles snaps. They arrange the rematch for December and Haye gets injured again and now we wait and see if Haye can make it through this fight without breaking down and the fact thy made this PPV with Hayes injury record is a big risk in my opinion. Haye and Harrison killed Sky PPV for a while and if Haye let's us down again then I can see a little bit of a backlash.
Why cant people be honest and see it for what it was like yourself. The injury was there weeks before the fight !
1 thing that was clear in his open workout is that his left arm is completely gone. Didn't look like he could throw a left hook properly
