Am I the only one who's looking forward to GGG - Vanes?

How many times haven't I heard

"GGG is ducking Lara"
"GGG is ducking Andrade"
"GGG is ducking Charlo"

Well Vanes drew with Lara and was competitive with the other two, even though he lost. He's as tough as nails and a gym rat. I'd say he's a good guage of where Golovkin is.

Yeah, he's not as good as other matches that can be made.

But under the circumstances I'll take Vanes over no fight at all.

 

Heavyweights don't have to make weight though. It's not the change in opponents styles that im talking about. It's the six of weeks taking off weight ....and then taking a month off....to start a brand new training camp. Heavy's dont have to deal with that.

 

It is a Mismatch but so was Canelo V Smith...and Ward V Brand was a Shocker....They all have them...

 

HWs have an optimum fighting weight that varies depending on the opponent. Joshua was to heavy for an opponent like Tatum , but he went through with the fight anyway.
It was though Wlad changed the date on Fury to alter his training in the hopes he'd get fatter. Fury stayed on course , Golovkin could have done the same , but he wanted to pad his record with a another bum fight instead.

 

Don’t like it but can’t lose sight of the reason it’s happening

 

Great to see Golovkin in the ring again. Pity he doesn't tell Alvarez, the time waster to get lost, he has beaten him anyway. There are tougher challenges out there anyway against Charlo and Derevianchenko. Wins over these boxers would enhance his - overused word alert, "legacy", than a repeat win over the Mexican diva.
Vanes is a decent short notice opponent. His honest draw and loss to Lara looks better than Alvarez' dodgy "win" over the clean Cuban.

 

It's an atrocious fight...I mean lets be honest, it's God awful but I'll watch it because that's what I do.

 

Although I count myself among the GGG fans, the only reason I’m looking forward to this fight is because I’ve already bought it with my HBO subscription.

I would’ve loved to see Abel and GGG push for a fight with Charlo, as soon as they knew the Canelo fight was a no go and with enough time to cancel the Centeno fight, just to hear crickets...

 

A "good guage of where he is", where would you expect him to be? He's who he's always been, not sure what we are supposed to evaluate...he will come in and pressure Vanes until the stoppage.

With boxing booming in the UK there were very slim chances that BN wouldnt buy this fight
