How about fighting 6 rounds with a broken jaw?

Is no proof of anything and can vary from small fractures to severed broken....

"Funny, the jaw didn't hurt so much in the fight," Ali later told Sports Illustrated's Tex Maule. "Under all the heat and the excitement, you don't feel it."

Talking about variance: Do you know which ATG had the highest weight advantage over his opponents?

Ok at least he had one as a prospect. He wasn't always dominant. There were times when he could have used some late round pop and he just never produced it. That is something that will detract from his career. Not saying he wasn' a helluva fighter. He was.

Perhaps it's because he usually got the job done early. I don't think he should be faulted for winning by wide decision.

Foreman and Frazier had 2 stoppages past the 9th round and Liston, Bowe and Lewis had none.

Let's get some of your facts straight 1st. Ali didn't quit against Holmes, A.Dundee told the ref to stop the fight, Frazier didn't quit in Manila, E.Futch forced the fight to be stopped. Frazier protested the stoppage and for a long time after, refused to talk to Futch because of it . With the Berbick comment . Their are plenty of different examples of people, not just in boxing but in war and in law enforcement and corrections where a person tried to prove they wasn't afraid by rushing in to situation, but because they rushed in trying to prove themselves they got hurt (I've been involved in all 3 fields ,and have personally seen it plenty of times, again being afraid or intimidated made Berbick do something he usually didn't do rushing into Tyson, hell, he didn't even do that against a completely shot Ali, but he rushed Tyson? come on man,a blind man can see that ). Foreman got up after the knockdowns against Lyle and won the fight, took a shellacking against Holyfield, lost, but was still trying at the end of the fight, took a beating against Moorer and won. How many times did Tyson get off the floor and win? Holmes was still 37 yrs old coming off a two yr lay off, and rushed in to fight the best heavyweight in the world at that time. By the time he got to Mercer (Who wasn't close to prime M.Tyson) most of the ring rust was off. You mention Botha, but you failed to mention him intentionally trying to break Botha's arm in the fight, he was trying to get DQ 'ed before landing to shot that got Botha out of there . Again trying to find a way out. But since your revising and omitting history to support your argument, have a great day with that.

I don't have Foreman or Frazier ahead of Tyson. Their about the same level. Great fighters for a time but one dimensional.

Frazier was able to flash late round power against Ali by knocking him in the 15th. Against Joe Bunger as well.

A broken jaw is a broken jaw. Whether he would've done the same thing to Tyson or not is irrelevant. Would an ill bum beat Liston at his absolute peak?

I told you before: "Is no proof of anything and can vary from small fractures to severed broken...." Are you really that dumb to equalize fracture = fracture?

Its relevant comparing "H2H-Ko-Artists". Liston lost to 180 1/2 lb Marshall. A Lightheavyweight. Liston did not fight any 6'4" 231lb jabbing movers with power. His median opponent is a Cruiserweight, he could very well have lost to that fighter. He did not fight the type af guys which came up later.

Great article. I got the same feeling when I dislocated joints during Jiu-jitsu. It's not horribly painful in the moment, but you know something is off.

I was rolling with my coach working on my top game. I passed his guard and as I walked my way to side control one of my toes got caught in the mat. Something was off I knew. It didn't hurt so much as it was just a feeling I hadn't felt before. I got off of him and leaned back to sit down. Sure enough my toe second toe on my left foot looks like the Nike symbol. Adrenaline does a lot to numb it. But only for so long. I finished that round but that was it for me. BY the time I tentatively walked out of the my my foot was the size of an orange.

I haven't bought a car with a manual transmission since.

Imagine fighting SIX rounds with that pain, when your opponent knows you're hurt and specifically targets your place of injury.
