This. Hearns couldn't put a dent in Hagler. Hearns would've got beaten faster in the rematch.

Hagler knocked him out in 3 after eating Hearns' best shots and not even coming close to being stopped. No way Hagler was afraid of Hearns, but I'm sure retirement had been on his mind for a long time. I dunno what the point of having a rematch would've been tbh.

And unlike US who just moan and groan about **** poor judging Marvin actually took a stance and gave boxing the finger. What a cool man with values and standards was Mr Marvin

I don't think he was afraid of Hearns, but I think he knew he fought the fight of his life and still got rocked and cut up and in the rematch, he could not put up that effort, Hearns would have more room to jab and land his right hand. I think he knew it would be hell and he was not eager for the fight. I don't think he was afraid, I just think he already won and put his all out and knew that a rematch would be tough and why do it again. Hearns was that tough, and to be honest, Hearns did not have trouble landing against Hagler. So if he had more room. what happens.

I think Hearns would have tried to box and I think he lands on Hagler clean and hurts him again. It would be interesting to see how Hagler would handle Hearns in a rematch. I always thought Hearns had a great chance in the rematch, and Hagler was not eager for the fight at all. He knew he won and didn't want Hearns anymore.

Nice post. Hearns trying to box would definitely be a plus for him. But sustaining it might be difficult.

It would. But he swelled up Hagler easily. and his problems later in his career was that he ended up brawling, I am not sure why that happened after the Hagler fight post 1986 he would get in slugfests. When he was younger, he would sustain the boxing. But I think he comes out boxing with Hagler and I think landing rights. I don't know if he could knock out Hagler outright with a right, but I think he would hurt him and maybe stop him by TKO.. I think Hearns was very confident about something with Hagler, even though he lost he came out wanting that rematch and Hagler was not eager..

Hagler did not lose to Leonard, Hagler was robbed. Remember the Gambino Family?

Tommy did try and box, problem was he had upset Hagler in the first round and Hagler didn't let him box after that for long, seek and destroy was on his mind. As Hagler put it " I ate him up like Pac man", no positives what so ever come out of that fight apart from balls with Hearns and punch power. Two things that meant F all if Hagler was on it. I don't see the point of looking at this fight and wondering what would happen in a rematch as Hagler was slowing. I don't want to pair them up again if neither are prime, we already got them both close to prime in their first fight
