I have always loved boxing and don't mind the paying for PPV, but I have found Sky commentary to be absolutely diabolical. Adam Smith; constantly shouting his lungs out even when nothing is actually happening in the ring, very inaccurate in portraying what is going on, biased to max, when there is a Matchroom etc. fighter against what is unfortunately called a bum/tomato can he will go out of his way to declare how "dangerous" the fight is, in every fight he will say "he looks as if to say.." Nobody wanted to hear scream your lungs out hoarse commentary at 100mph right through the fight. Carl Froch is someone who I think is much better suited to being the Head of Sky Boxing commentary than Adam Smith I would have been quite happy to purchase the Haye vs Bellew Sky PPV tonight, but AS is simply far too irritating.
You have to be absolutely nuts to suggest Froch being head of Sky’s boxing commentary. I don’t mind Smith, he can be very cringey (lift off for AAAAAAAJJJJJJJJJ) but he has a good voice for it and at least has knowledge. Froch admits he doesn’t follow boxing and it’s so apparent when he doesn’t have much insight on a particular boxer. Ed Robinson and the Scottish guy on Sky are quite good boxing commentators IMO.
Couldn't agree more. He is utter balls. Sky pundits are all just propaganda merchants for matchroom, but he's the worst. The Cobra is actually pretty decent at speaking his mind and breaking away from the rhetoric. He's literally the only one though. Janny Nelson is getting worse and worse with each fight.
I actually dont mind the Sky Boxing team. Somebody like Adam Smith is actually very knowledgeable about boxing, of course hes slightly bias i see that but hes a boxing fan at the end of the day he will have his own favourites he tries to keep to himself. As for screaming at the top of his lungs in big fights and dramatic moments... hes passionate about his job, he loves boxing, you cant knock a man who shows passion during his work.
Paulie is my favorite ,, adam smith is so corny its just funny, and the pair of them just make me laugh when somebody gets rocked/hurt in a fight, froch gets proper emotional and adam smith takes over exaggeration to levels unknown. They are both a bit meh when it comes to regular commentary and nothing exciting is happening but not that bad. I could listen to paulie all day long tho one of the greatest analysts of all time.
Like I just said on another thread I enjoy listening to Macklin. Froch I can't stand and Adam Smith recently has been quite hard to listen to. He regularly says fighters are 'hurt' or on 'wobbly legs' when they clearly aren't.
these guys have no charisma and are just boring company boys. nas was pretty coked up and OTT but he boyed off every current rubbish uk boxing pundit with his post groves-eubank jnr performance. If he limited himself to just one sniff before the cameras rolled he'd be one of the greatest analysts ever.
There's something very creepy about Adam Smith. Let's just say i wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with him.
can't stand adam smith's voice and he dksaboxing, or broadcasting. he's the brit version of teddy atlas except teddy does know something about boxing, teddy's just horrible at articulating it.
