He went out like a warrior at least, looked quite sharp in the first round, from there on he was in trouble, knocked down 3 times, after the 3rd one he still invited bellew to trade with him to go out on his shield, respect to David Haye and also respect to Bellew who put in a fantastic performance.
Sad end for the wannabe who first told Bellew he was going to send him into a coma then said he was going to drag the fight on to punish him. Bye *****.
Sad end but inevitable. His body was broken a long time ago. The fact that his body couldnt recover even with 3.5years out said it all......
Haye is a true warrior and a true fighting man. He could have quit numerous times in each fight against Bellew. Even there deep down he wanted to go down unconscious rather than have the ref step in. A true warrior and boxing great and it breaks my heart that people mock him on here.
That Wlad fight was a career destroyer for him it seems. The toe excuse humiliation which will probably forever be the thing he's most remembered for, constant injuries, cancelled fights, then gets destroyed by a blown up B level LHW. I honestly feel sorry for him a bit.
A fitting end indeed Career of freak shows. Lucky he pulled out against Fury twice because Fury would have had him on the canvas making noises AT A TIME where most would have predicted Haye by KO
Styles make fighting primes. David Haye's style depended very heavily on Athleticism, Fitness and is basically a young man's style. He looked very old in there and looked worse. In hindsight you can say that his best chance was to go all out from round one but even then Bellew has shown in both fights that he could take Haye's best shots. What Bellew has done in both fights is that even hardcore David Haye fans will now have a difficult time arguing that a peak David Haye would have destroyed Tony Bellew. I am sorry but i just never saw it in either fights. As for David Haye, he is seriously embarrassing himself if he continues fighting after today's performance.
Haye came into another fight clearly injured. Putting no weight on his back foot from the first round. Much less power in his shots and much worse movement. This was at best a hail Mary and at worst a blatant cash grab. He did his best and I don't mind this last two cash grabs if we can agree that's what they were. He gave boxing a lot and it's nice boxing could give something back to him when he needs it. He was an incredible self promoter and maybe with Schaefer he can go on to be a great promoter for others. Good luck to him.
Well said mate, after the massive 3rd knockdown he got up and invited Bellew to trade with him, these few seconds is what sums up Haye and his bravery, before the Bellew fights everyone made him out to be a quitter, he was called the Toemaker on every thread, It's been ages since the last time I saw someone call him that. I think the KO was inevitable but the ref stopped it too soon, he was ready to die in there, swinging away like the warrior he is. You can't mock him, it's not his fault his body is weak, very reminiscent of Daniel Sturridge, physically fit, quick, strong enormous talent but his muscles, ligaments and tendons are just too weak to be an athlete.
Definitely a warrior, that first Bellew fight, I don't think I've ever seen anyone as brave in the ring as he was there.
