Chisora and Baby Huey are probably #4/#5 British HWs currently.
Can't think of another proper CW contender in the UK but Bellew is not a top 5 UK HW right now, I can't imagine how he'd fare H2H vs Lewis and Bruno or even a prime Hide fif that matter

Id say Bellew cracks the Top 30 at best. Ive tried to keep it post war. This isnt in order of who i think is the best British boxers by numbers, this is just who i think would be above Tony Bellew based on what they have managed to do in the sport.

    I base success in boxing not by how much money they made, but by the following;
    • Did they become a World Champion?
    • How many defences they made
    • Multi weight World Champion?
    • Did they unify World Titles
    • Reputation
Tony Bellews Bracket for me would be between 26-30th if i was to lay them all out in order of the most successful British Boxers of all time, i think i could certainly name 26 from the names below. I think Bellew has achieved around the level of somebody like Frank Bruno did in the Sport but more than other British World Champions like Liam Smith, Lee Haskins, although they did manage to defend their belts, they will never have reached the height of Bellew reputation wise.

Now, if Bellew was to beat Tyson Fury and retire, he would certainly shoot to the Top 15. If Bellew was to beat Wilder and become a two weight World Champion i think he would certainly shoot to the top 15. If he was to beat Usyk and hold 4 major belts at Cruiserweight, id say that puts him top 10 and goes down as our Greatest Cruiserweight of All Time even with 0 defences.

If Bellew Defeated Fury in a stadium fight, TKOd Wilder to become a 2 weight world champion and then dropped back down and defeated Usyk, i think you would be talking about Top 5 but that is a very unlikely scenario.

For now, winning a Vacant Cruiserweight belt, falling short in a LHW Title bout, and 2 wins over a very inactive British Icon and Former Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion, he certainly makes the Top 30 based off that, not bad for a fat lad from Liverpool.

This was a good throw together post that illustrates the point but there are several notable fighters missing from the list and I would argue Bellew might not even crack the top 50.

His achievement was winning a vacant WBC CW title against relatively unknown Makubu defending once against BJ Flores.

An EBU win against Masternak vacated.

4 successful Commonwealth defenses and 1 successful British title defense

His other world title attempts against Cleverly and Stevenson ended in a loss.

The Haye wins are non title fights and he was not fit to fight on both occasions.

On a points based system he may not even enter the top 50. Scott Harrison, Johnny Nelson, Jim Watt, Herbie Hide are a few names of the top of my head that should rank higher.

Just because a fighter has a personality like chalk on a blackboard doesn't mean you shouldn't respect their in-ring achievements. Bellew's backed up everything he's said with his fists, and did things no one gave him a chance to do. I absolutely give him respect for that.

Whether he demands to be considered one of the best UK boxers of the last few years depends on what he does from here on out. The two Haye wins were good, but they came against a Haye very much past his best. Bellew still needs to prove himself at either CW or HW to truly cement his legacy. Personally I'd like to see him move up to fight Wilder. If he beats the gangly loudmouth he'd be a legend for sure, and Wilder has the types of flaws that'd allow Bellew to capitalise. It'd be a huge risk though, and Bellew's getting to the age where he needs to think about his future health.

Quality. You might as well change your username to “rock” now.

Hate this wave of emotion-based threads that come right after fights.

All I’ve heard since the win is “haye was shot” “haye was injured” blah blah blah. About 80% on here predicted Bellew to get flattened last night. The previous fight was probably closer to 95%. Just give him credit he deserves and a little respect.

Brook isn't ahead of Bellew. He has one good win against Porter and that isn't better than knocking out David Haye twice in a row.
