Watched it 3 times me haha. Watch the lightning fast right hook 30 seconds before the end of round 3. You miss it if you blink. It sends Haye staggering to the other side of the ring and he never recovers from it.
Everyone who understands a bit about boxing knew Haye was completely done in 2016. But still capable of beating tomato cans and set-ups. What most of us didn't see before the first fight was that Bellew was a good enough fighter now to be rated above the tomato cans and set-ups. Credit to Bellew. The ideas that some people have had in these last 2 years that somehow Haye was still good enough (or EVER good enough, to be honest) to beat the likes of Joshua, Parker, Wilder, Fury, Ortiz etc. ... completely laughable. Even AFTER Haye lost to Bellew we had people spouting that crap. Hopefully that is ended now .... but I can never be sure with these Haye cheerleaders.
Never been a fan of either lads, but big respect to tony, he said it like it was and executed it perfectly... Congratulations Tony bellew, you finally earnt my respect as a fighter.. And I never expected that to be the case come the end of your career... The boy done good... Enjoy...
Terrific shot m8. Bellew lived up to his nickname for sure. Looked the bigger puncher of the two in there. He can also hold a shot much better now as he is not weight drained. When he was at LHW nearly all his training must have been just to make weight, now alot of it is technical boxing training, and the difference is evident for all to see.
being a fan of a fighter definitely clouds judgement so I can forgive people a bit there but there has to be a point when the reality of it is clear. Haye coming back was clearly a sham, fans need to realise that and encourage the man to quit, not have another go.
Agreed - though don't think it was a sham, I think he believed he could achieve his goals but he turned out to be more deluded than Audley Harrison... I wouldn't like to see Haye come back now...his reflexes are gone and his body clearly can't hold up...
Against a proper slow heaveyweight like Dillian i would fancy Haye to win ,it was the speed of Bellew that caused Haye problems ...
Dillian Whyte is quicker than the Haye of today, the guy can't even put weight on his back leg, is flat footed. Whyte would destroy the Haye of today.
Have to agree with the above...Haye can't move...plus it wouldn't be a ppv fight so isn't worth it for Haye to risk his health and body again... Unless he can blast Whyte out in the first couple of rounds he has no chance...given he can't seem to push off his back foot anymore he should just retire... How ironic that David Haye is going the way of many other fighters in becoming easy pickings for those on the way up...
You must be joking right?! Whyte would ruin Haye, would hate to see that fight now..i hated seeing Haye go out like that. Getting battered by Bellew was a sorry sight for me...he looked nothing like his old self.
If Whyte wants to beat up an ageing past it British fighter he should try Del Boy ................................ Oh !
I think Haye clearly know. Audley just wasn't good enough, on other hand Haye's body was ****ed and the worlds top experts told him so. But in fairness to him if your skint and not too bothered about legacy and prepared to take a couple of hidings, around £7m is as good a reason as any to pull a legal scam.
I think haye knew but then started deluding himself. We,ve all been there. The first fight I think he genuinely believed he,d take bellew out easy when he signed up for it...but he did start to overcompensate with the this will be so easy chat. The second fight he knew the gig was up tho. The new team...changing everything up even his style his new peaceful demeanor ...was the act of a desperate man. Dillon whyte etc would ruin haye now. Should not be near a boxing ring with the injuries hes had or still has. Someone said...Briggs. I genuinely think Briggs could have probably beat him. The thing is people go on about him falling apart because he lost his speed/reflexes. But Hayes style would have still got success at an older age. Just not when the guys bodys injured/wrecked. He actually has no power now...due to his legs being done and the shoulder etc. He,d still have got success if he could commit to the punch...he looks like he's not capable of that tho. Sort of pulls the punch rather than punches through the opponent nowadays. The decision to retire should be taking out his hands if he's not willing to do it imo. You can't fight with those types of injuries.
I've been saying Haye is a washed-up cripple for years. But I think he would have battered Briggs, who is slow as hell and was shot to **** about 10 years ago ! Not that it matters. Both are shot, useless, attention-seeking has-beens, who were never great anyway. The significance of such a match would be NIL.
