Do you expect him to say hes not fit tho? Would you? For whatever reason the guys ended up skint...then took advantage of his entertaining style/name. Conning the public for me would be like audley who was going in there and looked like he wasn't even trying...was scared to get punched. At least haye went out on his shield.... gave it his all kept getting back up and tried to fight his way back into it. The reality was injuries finished his career...but the money was to good to turn down considering his current predicament. I think if we,re being honest everyone would have done the same thing. Especially when Hayes always been deluded. Hes not tricking anyone...he really does believe he will knock you out. When he realized it wasn't,t gonna be quite so easy...he changed everything up and went with a more subdued approach to the second fight.

Everyone knew he wasn't quite the same haye. They still wanted to see him fight regardless tho. And the guy gave it his all...its just that after last night at that level theres nothing left. Buying the fight was a choice at the end of the day. We could say conned but as long as a boxers out there giving it his all...its pretty hard to hold it against them. The guy sells off the back of his old career. Its pretty much the break you get for having that entertaining style. Hard to criticize him for it imo.

I've just found out the reason, he got ATOS to give him a work disability assessment, naturally he was found to be on 100% health and fit for work:dogpile:

I bought the fight last night.

I don't feel conned in anyway at all. Ive always been a fan of haye and I tuned in to see what he had left. Yes he looked shot in his last fight but owing to the injury and the fact haye was on terms with bellew for the first 5 rounds made me wonder what if he can come in injury free, lighter and taking it more seriously. I was hoping he would have improved considerably on last time but it quickly became evident that want the case.

Still it's no con, the guy has belief in himself and when you have the natural raw ability he has and the punch powder why would you not believe in yourself.

It was a sad end but not a con.

I'd rather watch a fight like this with 2 characters, a story and some drama around it than 2 great technical boxers give us 12 rounds of a boring chess match.

It's called entertainment and the two fights have been entertaining.

I agree with your analysis 100%. I've come to the conclusion that you have no choice about who you like, you either do or you don't. I personally really liked David, very intelligent and witty. And also bit of a G. It's not purely performance if you really like the fighter. And as you say it was fantastic entertainment, the buildup everything before and the fight.

I understand the reasons why but he made many false statements before both fights and conned the PPV mugs.

The man is simply a fraud.

    Not funny,

Lots of genuine disabled people have had their lives turned upside down because of ATOS.
Some have sadly even taken their own lives.

As you seen last night jurgen things can turn awry in a boxing ring. Haye took a beating in the end...it could have been worse. You could genuinely be fighting for your life in there. You,ve got to use anything possible to win the battle of the mind games. More so when your on the slide. That involves saying things that might not necessarily be true. I m still willing to bet if haye came in that first fight saying I m struggling with injuries but I m gonna try my best...a lot of people would have still bought it. Its not really being conned...if people are willing to buy it. I do get why your calling people mugs because its not for you personally. But as James above says he doesn't feel conned...cause for him and a lot of other people its entertainment. Boxings never ever really been about just the performance. We all like calling people casuals etc...but its a snobbish term. Let people enjoy boxing. Regardless if its not personally to your taste. Go track down the fights that are. Let everyone just enjoy the sport. What fighters do you like anyway jurgen. I m assuming its not the guys that can talk themselves into a fight? That's where the problem lies...they struggle to sell to the general public regardless how good they may be. The secret to learn is if your a boxer...you,very got to learn to sell yourself.

I don't see haye as a fraud. He just talked himself up and pretty much backed a lot of it up...before coming up short against klitchko. People underestimate how difficult it is to make that jump from cruiser to heavyweight. Jumping weights is always hard.

I watched the public workout and the fight and as Paulie said it seems his back leg was still not 100%.
My feeling is he still didnt recover 100% from the injury but good enough to at least box his way for 12 rounds.
Hence why he never really had any pop as he needs the back leg to pounce and generate the power.

I think he will review did the injury really to blame or he is just finished. He seems to recover from injuries quicker than anyone else which i think he is conning himself and people. Salas is one of the best boxing footwork coaches and there was a reason he was there, it was to get the best out of david with the injury he had previously.

I hope next few days he either tells us the truth or retire.

I’m bemused how anyone can even find him likeable. In all interviews he just comes across as trying to be cool and it’s awkward. Comment on here earlier saying he has an amazing personality. I just find that so strange.

bellew was sharp last night, and he showed power too. Well deserved Bellew. Haye 100% must retire and I also think Bellew should to. Or else he’ll get toyed with it he fights fury, knocked out by usyk and probably in hospital if he fought wilder (which he never would)

Followed the rise use and fall of Hate from day 1... His issue is that he never put enough miles on the clock when he was young. He's done a ridiculously small number of rounds as a pro, spent his entire heavyweight career fighting gatekeepers, cheated on his wife and as a result of all this ended up destitute.

If he'd managed to squeeze in 10 more fights in his 20s against a decent level of opposition he'd be held in much higher regard and probably have a few more Bob in the bank.

Haye posted videos doing Plyometrics. Something he hasn't done since 2012. Watching that convinced me there couldn't be any problem with his achilles.

I listened to it on talk sport as my ass hole boss has filtered out most internet sites for sports ,

I don't think Haye will fight again unless he fights lower level opposition on his own promotional cards , but I doubt it , another PPV fight is a million miles away so he either retire or accepts 400-500 thousand pound pays on Hayemaker Ringstar
