It's not "rotten luck" Butler simply isn't good enough to beat those men, what you're basically saying is "if the world champions were a lot worse then Butler would do better".

Well if that's the case then every fighter who isn't winning world titles is having "rotten luck" that others are better than them.

 

Just to clarify, I didn't say Butler was rubbish, I said he isn't good enough to beat fighters like Tete, Rodriguez and a few others, I don't believe he is world level and at 29 is in a difficult spot now.

Butler had advantages Saturday night, home advantage, a weight advantage and he still got battered and shut out, so what should I say?

Praise his Bravery? All fighters show an amazing amount of bravery, it goes without saying.

I personally thought it was a "female dog" move coming in nearly 4lb over weight and not having any intention of trying to lose any weight and for that alone he deserved a beating and got one.

 

I criticised him strongly on this forum for missing weight. Do I thinking was deliberate ? No, because only reason he agreed to fight such a hard opponent was to have chance to win world title, failing weight took that chance away. Yes fighters are typically brave but when your had a virus, getting totally outclassed and your corner offers you chance to be pulled and you don't is very brave and should be applauded. I think it's also bad corner work as if a trainer is of opinion you should be pulled out they should make decision and protect fighter. I agree Butler has hit a ceiling and can't beat top few guys in division but no shame in that. Also as Len pointed out very unlucky to be in such a strong era.

Butler is better than that. Hall maybe that level these days but Butler was on another level to him.

Yeah I think Paul is on another level to hall I also think Paul’s upper body movement is zero these days he needs to get back to the silky smooth movement he had before he when to Gallagher I spoke to one of Paul’s mates today and he said Paul gonna have a long rest then re evaluate his training ? what ever that means

 

No I never said that ! In their most recent fight were Butler totally outclassed Hall I said Hall was at that point British level. Andre Ward totally outclassed Paul Smith who was British level doesn't mean that Ward is equivalent of that level does it.

 

I think against Hall in their rematch his upper body movement was very good, remember people saying it was unlike the more upright stance you get from Joe G trained fighters. I am not defending Gallagher but Butler isn't beating the top few guys in division regardless who trains him as it comes down to fact he isn't as good as them. To be honest Rodriquez never got out of second gear, reminded me of Crawford when he fought Burns in Glasgow

by the time the rematch with hall took place hall was shot to bits and Paul could do what he liked with him we have never seen Paul schooled like that not even with Tete Paul or Gallagher had no answers what so ever don’t get me wrong Rodriguez is really good but to get outclassed like that suggests Paul has really declined imo

 

I think he was not 100% fit With the virus and missed training but regardless would never beat Rodriquez in a month of Sunday's.
