GGG's resume is the best p4p resume at the moment. That has more to do with the state of boxing. Because he is so dominant it would have been nice if he would have challenged himself and tried grabbing some scalps at higher weights. 160 has been top heavy for a while. It wasn't competitive when Hopkins ruled it nor has it been since. GGG's resume is just as good as Hopkins.

How much does a first ballot hall of fame fighter, owner of the most consecutive middle title defenses, and holding the top pound for pound ranking mean for a legacy?!

Only top 15-20? How many of the guys in your top 15 qualify for the following:

1 ) 1st ballot hall of fame fighters - You can bank on that one for GGG.
2 ) Had close to 20 title defenses.
    3 ) Made Ring Magazine's #1 p4p. ( Fighters pre Robinson are exempt as that ranking wasn't around )
4 ) Never lost to a lesser opponent.
5 ) Were never floored and had comparable punching power.

Q, your list would quickly shrink and most who you rate from 15-1, can't check off those boxes. Give it a try, you'll see. I'd be shocked if anyone on your list meet four of those requirements! Heck most would have just 2 of 3 boxes checked.

While Golovkin's opposition wasn't great, he was highly avoided for years so its not his fault. Martinez, and Cotton would not touch him.

Losing to lesser opposition to me takes as much away from a legacy as beating a top ranked opponent. GGG has never lost to a lesser opponent. Everyone else on your list has. Hagler, Monzon, you name em'

So your kings lost to grade B fighters, no such man has ever uncrowned GGG.

The linear champion, sadly is a dying concept with too many broken chains.

Doesn't matter that they were former welterweights, since when they fought Hopkins they were both middleweight champions. Byrd was a former super middleweight early in his career, but that didn't stop him from later stopping Vitali and becoming a world champ at heavyweight.

Brook on the other hand was a welterweight champion when he fought GGG and Vanes wasn't a champion at any weight class or even an active fighter when GGG beat him.

Oscar or Trinidad at 160 would be GGG's best win, since both are better than Jacobs. Also, Trinidad and Oscar would clean out GGG's resume with the exception of Canelo.

I don’t think GGG could have unified with that belt if you can find anything to the contrary in terms of the WBA rules in 2009 I’ll be happy to change my opinion but other wise I have to assume the champ then who was sturm would still be the champ. You can’t sctually have two champs in the same organisation no matter how you dress it up.

Except that there were actually 3 and like the first bit i posted says, super couldve been awarded to fighters who happened to be unified champs of other organizatons as some form of gift. “We give you this belt cuz you’re a unified champ, from here on you’ll be our champ too and you’ll pay us whenever you fight”.
I’ll definitely dig a bit more when i have more time.
Another thing is, surely WBA themselves wouldve had something to say about Golovkins 20 title defense streak if they didnt see him as their champ as soon as he got the regular strap.

Dmitry Chudinov won the interim belt in 2013. When Golovkin was made a "super champ", Daniel Jacobs was allowed to fight Fletcher for a vacant belt. Chudinov lost the belt to Eubank.
Do you expect Jacobs or Quillin to fight a mandatory defense against Eubank?

Just another bit to show that Super and Regular were sort of independent entities, hence Regular meant proper champ able to unify (and become super after 5 succesfull defences of the title) and interim was, well, interim.

This is a good, but long read here on this forum -

This. Canelo was 42-0-1 and a unified Champion with with several title defenses under his belt. If anything Canelo was highly experienced and well proven at the world level.

He beat Lara, Cotto, Kirkland, Angulo, Khan. Oscar beat nobody at middleweight, he got a gift decision against Sturm. Trinidad beat Joppy, Cherifi and Mayorga.

Alvarez at MW > Trinidad and DLH at MW

You can only fight whoes out there and who's willing to fight you. G was avoided like the plague for yes. What's he suppose to do force guys to fight him at gun point?.
He fought the best MW out there in his time who would fight him.
Ward was a SMW. G a MW who made it clear his goal was to unify all titles. The only reason you started this thread was to drag Wards name into it and try to discredit G.
That is your agenda unless it's a fighter you like sad to say.

Average at best? So average middleweights have that resume? Interesting, can you name a current middleweight who has a resume like Golovkin?

His resume is average at best and at worst trash. Guys like Jacobs have been at 160 for years and have never beaten anyone of note either. Another guy in Lemiuex is barely even worth talking about. Canelo hasn't been there long enough neither have guys like Charlo. If he fights guys like BJS who's a quality operator and the other EE fighter he ducked his resume would be better.
