    Keep dreaming.

Lennox with his superior skill being knocked out with a slow telegraphed right hand that would never land on Dempsey of Joe Louis.

Lewis being knocked out again with his 'modern superior athletic skill'. Lewis was duped by McCall's left hand and knocked out with the right.

This is the same McCall that was beaten by a shot Tony Tucker, Mike Hunter, Orlin Norris, and a fat Buster Douglas, but was too much for Lennox.

A fat Buster Douglas would beat up Dempsey and Willard on the same night.

You see how in these videos fighters have a sense of timing and distance?

Dempsey would get beaten up at cruiserweight if he was around today. I can run circles around a big unathletic guy who can’t fight as well.

Did you just say that Sugar Ray Robinson is "unathletic with few skills?" Well, he's no David Lemieux, but he was all they had back in the day.

How many of these MEN were getting in some extra sparring on their wives/kids?

Hard to argue given Dempsey never lost a single round to any black fighter.

Willard looks and boxes just like Tyson Fury. Neither one is particularly skilled. They are just big dumb oafs. Sometimes they are only big dumb fat oafs. Big Baby Miller, Chris Arreola, and Bermane Stiverne are fat disgraces too. It's too bad Joe Louis isn't around to learn Deontay Wilder's windmill style punching technique.

Some say we can't properly build bridges or structures compared to what was done by those centuries ago...

You don't compare the pinnacle of an era with a C grade contemporary. But we'll play your game, and I'd pick Lemieux to shatter Robinson's jaw.

No he didn't. Fury is basically a 6'9 version of Ali. If Louis was around he'd be getting beaten up in the cruiserweight division, so compare his technical ability to cruiserweights for a more accurate comparison. If a wild 190 pound Marciano could body Louis then I hate to think what would happen when a great athlete like Wilder connected on that cruiserweight jaw.

The main difference isn't nutrition or training methods. The quality of PEDs is the most significant advantage of current athletes

Muhammad Ali fought 50+ years ago.
I'd pick him to beat anyone around today.

Yep. Dempsey or Marciano would probably be top level cruiserweights. Guys like Ali and Joe Louis might still be heavyweight champs, although probably not nearly as dominant in an era of bigger fighters. But for the fighters who are the same size as moderns, I see no reason to favor Golovkin over Robinson and Hagler, Kovalev over Ezzard Charles or Gene Tunney, Spence Jr over Hearns or Napoles, Linares over Roberto Duran or Benny Leonard.

One thing I think you’re failing to point out is the advancement in drugs. Usain Bolt is on a cocktail of drugs, Jesse Owens was not, as they hadn’t been invented. It’s not a coincidence that times started getting faster and faster in athletics after steroids were introduced.

And for anyone that doesn’t think usain bolt is on drugs just try and comprehend that something like the fastest 20 100m times in history have all been run by convicted drugs cheats, but somehow bolt ran the 2 fastest ever completely clean?

No one really knows how athletes of today would do against athletes of years gone by as drugs have changed the game. Maybe 100m times wouldn’t be as different as they are had drugs not been introduced.
