It doesn’t matter. It’s a niche sport here. Probably because it’s a sport where you don’t use your hands. Could care less what everyone else in the world feels about it. Soccer is the equivalent of roller blading here.

Thread title is wrong. GGG - Martirosyan peaked at 1.36M, 1.25M was the average.

It's crazy that this outdid Wilder - Ortiz which was a far more entertaining and meaningful fight.

When your dumbass gets deployed, try to look around at other cultures and soak up what they do. A douchebag like you needs to be exposed to other cultures, rather than just your redneck trailer trash lifestyle...

Its not crazy to me at all. I actually expected GGG's numbers to be significantly bigger.

Wilder doesn't get the coverage or hype GGG does, and he also doesn't have the mega star rival to help his name and brand like GGG does with Canelo. Wilder may have AJ, but AJ is unknown in the U.S.

Yes but it was a last minute replacement with very little chance at the upset. Canelo - Kirkland did a peak of 2.296M, anything more than half that is good for Golovkin.

GGG's promotion has also been light years better.

Wilder had every built in advantage towards being a bigger name in the U.S., and his handlers couldn't capitalize. Nobody in the boxing business ever said "forget the unbeaten heavyweight American knockout artist, it's a middleweight from a country we can't spell that people want!"

Um, Canelo-Kirkland followed the replay of Mayweather-Pacquiao.

Gol9vk8n has done better rating in the past, but nit bad for a short notice mismatch.

Yes. Wilder's promotion has been garbage, largely because his handlers have been trying to steer him clear of any sort of threat for a long time. His manager said that Washington was a more risky fight than he wanted.

The two times Wilder signed vs good opponents: Ortiz and Povetkin, he had to put his foot down because his managers didn't like those fights. Fat Arreola, Glass Wawzyrk, Hooligan Szpilka are the sort of guys his team prefers.
