Repeat of a cruiserweight is a possibility, according to Kalle. Heavyweight is a no go as well as midleweight is a no go.

Good news and better news. So far everything (controllable) about the WBSS has been great and nothing (outside happenstance/acts of 'god' like injuries) has been a disappointment.

The third weight division will be either lightheavy or cruiserweight. Lightheavy would have to feature Stevenson, Beterbiev, Bivol, Jack and Alvarez would have to agree to participate, if they would decide to do a lightheavy competition.

Repeat of a cruiserweight tournament is a lot easier and cheaper to make than a light-heavy competition.

Either way sounds great. I agree that if those names can't be assembled for LHW a Cruiser II would be preferable to "settling" for a more diluted version at 175lbs.

If the cruiserweight part 2 happens, expect Vlasov, Perez, Tabiti and Briedis to take part.

Oh man, in that case SCREW light heavy! Even the optimal version of it doesn't hold a candle to a cruiser lineup such as that! (even though it would be a walk in the park and basically a gilded path for Bivol to jack up his record & standing, and I'm quite a Bivol fan...but overall there's more talent at cruiser and I'd rather see it continue to get some international love)

Beterbiev has contractual issues, so his participation is in doubt. Stevenson is on question mark because of his upcoming fight and his plan to fight 2 times a year. Bivol might participate because I think he isn't signed to HBO deal. Browne is injured. Edwin Roudrigeuz is a possibility but he isn't top name. Yarde will not take part because he wants to gain more experience. jack wasn't eager to participate if I remember correctly. Sauerland, Shaefer and co are working on a light-heavyweight to come to fruition but it's not easy to make.
So, by the looks of it repeat of a cruiserweight is likely.

Adonis Stevenson, Badou Jack, and Eléyder Álvarez can't retire soon enough as far as I'm concerned. Inside the ring and out (each for a host of different reasons) they all just bore me to death. Once they're gone the young bloods at light heavy can flourish.

It would help to influx new talent but they might stay for at least 2 more years. And I remember reading that Jack will move up if he wins against Stevenson.

Beterbiev's participation isn't likely also because of the fact that his fight with Jonshon might happen in late summer and he won't be ready for October because of that.

Kashinsky will likely enter the tournament. He is set to return on June 30th card.

Both would be solid additions, especially Goulamirian.
