The evolution is obvious; the two guys in the second video are much more muscular and the video is far more clear - ergo, Brook and Spence are better.

 

Obviously Bellew would destroy him. There would be plenty of non-boxers who would beat Dempsey up. If somebody showed me video of Dempsey and told me I was fighting him tomorrow I wouldn’t be concerned in the slightest. The sharpness of the punches, the control, the variation, the defense is clearly superior in the modern day video. And you’re not comparing the same weight class in reality, there is a difference between same day weigh ins and today.
You should be comparing those guys to 135/140 pound fighters today. Then the evolution in everything becomes even more glaringly obvious.

Nice straw man. I said the quality of boxing is clearly higher, there are aspects of the sport that have clearly evolved since the days of Leonard-Hearns. In a direct head to head match up you need to take styles and many other variables into account. Brook has better technical ability, is the bigger and stronger man. Ray Leonard is a better natural athlete. I don't know who would win. It's not blatantly obvious like it is comparing someone today to Ray Robinson or Dempsey. From the 80s onwards the sport clearly improved.
