    Round 6

Geografo is holding out his right arm when extended after each jab and repelling Spada with a glove nudge. Geografo dusting him with flurries while turning him. Spada rushing him, whacking down as hard as he can with overhands but missing or getting blocked. Spada all of a sudden turns his back on his opponent. Geografo runs after him, extending a hand almost seemingly for a glove touch, and the ref pushes him away. Spada is...quitting? Yes.

    TKO6!

Damn, biggest fight of his career to date BY FAR and he scores his first ever pro stoppage. (incidentally just the second defeat by stoppage of Spada's career, now spanning 50 bouts. The other was at the hands of Veneno Rubio in 2014)

I think in hindsight the confusion in the 5th round was a foreshadowing of the 6th. I think Spada got frustrated with the blood smeared all over his face (and probably clouding his vision) and with being unable to catch Geografo, and getting stung by him so frequently, and he attempted to quit in the middle of the 5th by disengaging. Nobody realized that is what he was doing, though, and so the ref was like "er, time in?" and Spada was reluctantly like "yeah, sure, I guess..." and took one more run at scoring the come-from-behind KO before descending into that same depth of frustration in the subsequent round.

Guainella got KD'd and clearly lost about 3 or 4 other rounds clearly and got a draw?

    Uggggggggghhhhh.

I actually feel bad for Geografo even though he got the W; you can tell he's a good kid and wanted to do the right thing. After landing the "sucker punch" in the 5th he looked so guilty and confused, like he couldn't believe that Spada made no attempt to put up his guard or roll with the punch. Then in the sixth when Spada quit for real he was chasing after him with gestures of pleading supplication, like "no, come on, you don't have to quit! I'll get on my bike and sheathe everything but my jab for the whole second half so you can lose on points with dignity, promise!"

I wonder if he grew up watching & idolizing Spada. He sure appeared to have mixed feelings about taking his belt under those circumstances.

Triple dab and then quit - not a great look, Vulcano...

Maybe should've bowed out last June on a high note.

Ugh, so it should've been like 59-54 if not 60-53 Habachi. :ohno

I understand they only had an hour time slot (with live car racing preceding it and their version of "SportsCenter" following) in which to squeeze the whole broadcast on SI1, but if they were going to include just one 6-rounder from the undercard to show in part before the main event, I'd have rather seen a glimpse of 7-0 prospect Khalil El Harraz than watch Guainella receive that egregious gift draw.

El Harraz drew with Geografo in the amateurs. They could very likely have a pro rematch for the national MW title in the near future.

El Harraz is an Egyptian slugger, everything he does is bob and weave, mid and short distance work

Think his style would match up well against the movement & versatile switch-hitting of Geografo?

I have not followed Geografo too much, an amateur match between the two of them in 2014 ended in a draw.
It's interesting also to note hat El Harraz went 1-1-1 against Guainella in the amateurs.
