Brook's Eye Damage Was Caused By A Spence Headbutt, Not A Punch. Is An Asterisk Needed?

They both came in! Doubt that butt caused the socket to be broken! Spence deserves full credit.

For sure that caused the eye to swell a lot it should of been caught by the ref. Spence isn't as good as people say a top boxer can take him. Brook was up on the cards up to the 6th when the eye was gone.

It doesn't change the outcome but sure diminishes Spence's aura. I'd be pissed if I was Brook.

How did you go from Brook saying his eye was damaged in the 7th to the butt being the reason for the damage in the 8th? Why are you adding so much supposition to this fight?

If Brook was so hot for a rematch, he should have stayed at 147 and rematched. Also, Brook himself and he team gave no mention of this headbutt.

Sorry, but I'm not buying it. Spence won, and I'm not seeing any controversy other than the fabricated one created here.

All this talk of a rematch and what most people here fail to realize is that Spence beats brook easier in the rematch. Spence is on the rise and brook is on the decline.:deal:

Spence was winning that fight one way or another. Brook was the #1 ww until Spence came along.
Now he's gonna have to beat the jmw charlo to get his "rematch" that I highly doubt he wants..

Brook is a true elite fighter, give Spence the due he deserves for traveling and beating the best ww in the world

That was a hell of a process, since he lost the majority of the first 6 rounds, because Brook was in the process of boxing his ears off.

No he wasnt at no point was brook boxing his ears off. Boxing some ones ears off is what pbf did to chico corrales it's a clinic. In no way shape or form was brook putting on a clinic in that fight. If anything spence was coming on and the fight was close in the middle rounds.

Look closer and you will see Brooks sneaky left hook landed and that's what caused Spences head to twist, not head to head contact. Actually it looks like that hook hurt Spence. Their heads did come together, but the initial impact was Spence running into the short hook.

Whether the injury was caused at an earlier stage of the fight or not, regardless if it was from a punch or another head clash, their heads came together with force in the 8th and Brook's eye swelled up badly after that and the injury went from being something that was barely noticeable at all to a very visible and serious one that became a big factor in the fight.

Brook has had some rotten luck throughout his career.

He wins his world title and then the following month after doing so some machete-wielding chav maniac who was probably off his nut on an industrial dose of Clenbuterol hacked a canyon sized gaping wound in his thigh that not only threatened to curtail his career but almost cost him his life. Then as he lay in his hospital bed not knowing whether he would ever be able to walk again, let alone box, he went into a deep depression, quite understandably I might add given what had just happened to him and what was at stake.

Thankfully he was able to make a full recovery and continue with his boxing career. But then after reeling off 3 straight wins, his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd defence of his world title, bad luck came a knocking on his door again when he moved up to MW and took on the savage punching GGG and suffered the first of his broken orbital socket injuries. Again he went into a deep depression not knowing whether he'd ever see out the injured eye again, let alone be able to continue with his career.

This is what he had to go through

'Brook's trainer Dominic Ingle last week compared the injuries to those suffered by car crash victims, while the Sheffield boxer was even told at hospital it could have cost him his sight.

"They took my eye out and went in through my mouth and into my eye to get the titanium plate put in place," Brook told ESPN.

"They then drilled in three or four screws. That's what it were, pretty gruesome, but that's what were necessary.'

And then after having to go through all of that he suffered the exact same injury to his other eye in his very next fight. That's some terrible luck. And people accuse him of being a coward? WTF?!
