No it wasn’t. His eyes glazed over for a second on the replay and his legs weren’t the same the rest of the round (and maybe some of the next). That was undoubtedly the most hurt he’s been as a pro, maybe ever.
That's three times now. Salido, GRJ, Linares. The problem is that Lomachenko throws those softer probing punches to open opponents up. The judges then judge his hard punches as less effective. Lomachenko's knockouts don't look like hard punches. The other problem is that Lomachenko is always following one punch up with something else or some other movement, there is no exclamation mark on his shots like you see with a Hopkins or Floyd. I won't be surprised to see Lomachenko get robbed in the future.
Ah yes, clearly nobody can win the next round after being hurt the previous round. Not saying he was in real danger, but to say it was a balance shot isn’t true. It was a straight right that he took right on the chin that he wasn’t expecting and his legs gave out. He didn’t have anything the rest of that round and didn’t look comfortable in between. His father was calm and that calmed Vasyl. I think it was a legit KD.
Of course it was a legit KD. What do you mean 'the rest of that round'? It was the end of the round when it happened. Lomachenko got caught walking in, too relaxed and he stepped and squared up at the same time the punch landed. Lomachenko was calm as he was going down, he caught himself as he landed. He wasn't hurt at all, there were other punches that did more damage than that.
Lomachenko was on retreat and survival immediately after the KD and for the rest of the round. Linares left him off the hook.
Array was split three ways. Draw on a single judge's card, and Lomachenko & Linares each up by 2 points on the other two.
