Shout out to Linares for giving a great fight and not succumbing to other no mas victims. I’ve always respected Linares but even after losing he still deserves more respect. Held his own, countered great, dropped Loma, and even put some great flashy combos from time to time. He was just in against a special fighter, no shame in that. He and Loma put on a great show that displayed the sweet science at the highest level.

Yeah Linares proved he's a P4P fighter himself.

Phenomenal fight that we as fans should feel lucky to of gotten, shame the narrative has been ruined by fans on both sides trying to either downplay or blow out of proportion the fighters respective performances....

Of course he does. For a guy that got all but shut out, losing every round that he didn't get a mandated 10-8, he boxed incredibly well...it just wasn't enough. But history will acquit him of any shame in that when Lomachenko receives due ATG recognition.

I'll admit, I thought Loma would lose round 1 and dominate the rest of the fight, but Linares came through. Evenly fought match up until the KO of course.

come on. I'm a big Chenko fan too but you gotta admit Linares did win a few rounds.

    Which rounds? Besides the knockdown?

Don't even say the ninth. He didn't win that round, he did better than before. Lomachenko won it with jabs.

1st and 7th, and the 9th could have gone either way.

Okay, that's fair. Disagree, but that's fair, glad there isn't another person in the "9th was the clearest for Linares" brigade..

I gave him 1, 2, 6, 7, 3 could have gone either way, and I lost track of round 9, leaned toward Linares, but a lot of people say he won that. According to compubox, Linares outlanded Loma in rounds 1, 2, 6, 7, and 9 with punches being even in round 3. Damn, I'm good!

I can't even wrap my head around someone possibly having it a 30-27 Linares shutout after three.

I thought linares did extremely well and made it a tough and close fight, but Loma figured him out and that's what great fighters do, and he's certainly the best fighter since floyd at this point imo.

R1 10-9 Linares Linares barely takes the round which is almost entirely love taps and no bad intentions.
    compubox 14JL 12VL
Julie Lederman: Linares Robin Taylor: Linares Steve Weisfeld: Loma

R2 10-9 Linares Linares is starting to punch through the target but after hooking up hard into Loma’s body around two minutes Loma love taps him four times in an impressive if ineffective combination. I’m seeing Loma land but they are so what punches.
    compubox 21JL to 17VL
Julie Lederman: Loma Robin Taylor: Loma Steve Weisfeld: Linares

R3 10-10 This is frustrating. I can’t score this for either man. They aren’t throwing punches. They are just tickling each other in there. Linares landed one good punch, but we all know he’s feather fisted. Lomachenko is content to play tag.
    compubox 20JL to 20VL
Julie Lederman: Loma Robin Taylor: Loma Steve Weisfeld: Loma

R4 10-9 Lomachenko I’ll give it to him since he finally threw two punches that mattered. I actually laughed at some of the stuff he was doing in the last minute. He just tapped like Linare’s gloves like I do when I play box with my dog.
    compubox 15JL to 25VL
Julie Lederman: Loma Robin Taylor: Linares Steve Weisfeld: Loma

R5 10-9 Loma Even damage but edge goes to Loma for aggression and ring generalship.
    compubox 22JL to 24VL
Julie Lederman: Loma Robin Taylor: Loma Steve Weisfeld: Loma

R6 10-8 Linares Loma bitching about a low blow that was legal and on the beltline. He’s learned since Salido. Laying down volume, keeping Linares busy. Loma actually landed a decent punch from a weird angle. They are mixing it up. Not a lot of mustard on those punches though. Clear Loma round before Linares knocked him down good.
    compubox 21JL to 20VL
Julie Lederman: Linares Robin Taylor: Linares Steve Weisfeld: Linares

R7 10-9 Linares good hook to the body thirty seconds in. Goes for uppercuts but is countered over the top. Jabbing. Feinting. Linares jabs to the body. Linares lands a combination body head. Loma replies body head. Loma jabs to the body. Linares hit Loma to the body and hit him on the hip. Loma cries to the ref. Bout even I give it to Linares though.
    compubox 20JL to 17VL
Julie Lederman:Linares Robin Taylor:Linares Steve Weisfeld: Linares

R8 10-9 Loma One two from Linares. Battle of jabs. Loma dancing around stinging like a bee but occassionally Linares counters and his counters look much harder. Lomachenko outworking Linares this round. Even if nothing is on those punches the accumulation is going to add up. Good jab.
    compubox 24JL to 32VL
Julie Lederman: Loma Robin Taylor: Loma Steve Weisfeld: Loma

R9 10/10 Good left from Linares. Linares battering with both hands about Loma’s head. Did that compubox just say Linares has outlanded Lomachenko? Loma lands a good jab, another. Accuracy is near the same. I lost track. 10/10 Maybe, a Linares round.
    compubox 29JL to 18VL
Julie Lederman: Linares 85-85 Draw ,Robin Taylor: Linares 86-84JL ,Steve Weisfeld: Loma 84-86VL

R10 Linares comes forward with a combination forcing Loma to the ropes. Loma breaks the guard and moves off the ropes. They exchange in the middle of the ring. Not much landing. Loma breaking the guard doing good uppercuts. Loma leaps in for a left hook. Nice combination and Linares goes down. He’s not getting up. It’s over.
