It's a shame Hughie Fury has been overshadowed by this weekend's boxing...

Wasn’t a fan of his last performance.
His movement was still excellent he just wasn’t offensive enough. He looked very good on Saturday though against albeit an average opponent.

Will be interesting to see him develop.

Shopworn been well beaten a fair few times now Sam Sefton I might add.

He did what he had to do and I can't knock that but the proof he's improving will come when he faces someone who can fight back and not fight like a complete pansy.

His shades of Ali performance must go down as one of the worst world title attempts in history.

Yeah, I agree that this fight can't be any decisive factor of improvement by Fury. He just did his job, it was a must for him to win... I feel like most people are just surprised that it wasn't a decision but a knock out.

Exactly. If he wants to prove he belongs with the big boys this is exactly how he needed to perform against this level of opposition.

Now I'm not saying he has to start brawling against top fighters but he has to be willing to actually fighr a bit. Fury did occasionally bring it to Wlad and when he did he threw punches with intent. Hughie didn't do that once against Parker.

He actually stayed around long enough to throw some jabs before getting on his bike!!

No he looked alot more like Tyson and did pretty well as he should have done..

Sexton is not very good, and I was cracking jokes during the fight but he did legitimately look impressive. I’ll have to see him against liver competition to know what his true ceiling is but Saturday was way better than I thought it would be.

Sure is when it means the Hearn haters have to come back up with another way to predict his demise.

Interview's after the fight suggested the Hughie plan was to Box like normal (defensively, with good movement and jab), then from round 6 switch to taking the fight on the front foot, show us something more exciting. Didn't get that far!

True you can't really learn much from fighting this level of opposition, we need to see Hughie step up a level to see if he can do the same thing vs better comp. I did notice he was counter punching though, which isn't something he tends to do, he's usually getting off first then getting on his bike but against Sexton he was willing to fire back.

And yes his performance vs Parker was truly dreadful. I think team Fury simply came in with the wrong strategy. They tried to spoil and steal the title like Tyson did vs Wlad. That worked because Wlad is naturally cautious and won't take risks but Parker isn't Wlad he was willing to walk in and throw and keep throwing even if he missed wildly and that allowed Hughie to be outworked. That really should of been a winnable fight for Hughie, simply landing his jab with more authority instead of touching Parker with it might have been enough to win the fight but he literally did just enough to lose.

It's a small step for Sadam Ali from fighting huge Munguia to Hughie... so maybe that fight will happen.

He fought a world champ at 23 and made Parker look like a rank amateur missing wildly whilst Parker couldn't cut the ring off on him.

I'd like to see him fight Kabayel or Jennings type next. Or just guys who can give him different looks. I think they're both in the WBO rankings.

Well this only proves that UK cares much more about boxing nowadays than US.
