Depending on the fighter, I wouldn't be one bit surprised if even the ABC's bent their own rule for a piece of a large sanctioning fee for a major draw.

    The belt is meaningless anyways.

How the hell can a catchweight be a title fight either way, some of Mayweather's defenses should be erased from his record.

They can do it at the catchweight, but the WBA wouldn't sanction it for the LW title. Best case scenario for PAC would be for them to sanction a world championship of some sort (Regular or Super) at Junior Welterweight if he wants a title on the line for a fight at 137lbs.

    Not really.
They fought at 168 and the vacant 168 belt was on the line. Lalonde also held the 175 belt so that was on the line.
There is a limit to how much you can weigh, but not how little.

There were a lot of these throughout the history. But anything between 140+ to 147 is considered WW.
So its kind of a gray area.

I know the weight range but didn't Mayweather demand Canelo come in 2lb lighter than the Super Welterweight limit?

Kinda like when Pac fought for the Jr. Middle belt, never weighing more than 145 while Rito was told he couldn't weigh more than 150...for a 154 belt.

That would still fall under the 154 mark so not seeing how that disproves my statement. Pac man was the catchweight king, but since those guys signed the contract that’s on them

Exactly....most boxing fans knew the SRL fight with Lalonde was a sham.
The "powers to be" made Lalonde, the Lightheavy Champ, come in at below the
new WBC SuperMW weight limit of 168 lbs.

1988-11-07 : Donny Lalonde 167 lbs lost to Ray Leonard 165 lbs by TKO at 2:30 in round 9 of 12
    • WBC Light Heavyweight Championship (2nd defense by Lalonde)
    • WBC Super Middleweight Championship

That's a statement brimming w/ hatred and not at all based on facts:

    Pacquiao
    • Cotto (145)
    • Marquez III (144 — JMM's request)
    • Algieri (144 — Algieri never weighed more than 140; advantage Algieri)
    • Margarito (150 — Margarito weighed in at 150 and rehydrated to 165; advantage Margarito)
    Mayweather
    • Marquez (144; cheated Marquez and paid for the missed weight; advantage Floyd)
    • Canelo (152; corpse @ 152; advantage Floyd)
    Canelo
    • CaneloWeight of 155 for FIVE FIGHTS (Angulo, Khan, Lara, Kirkland, Cotto) and a catchweight 165 for Chavez Jr.

Show me where any of those weights are the full weight limits. Lol every single one of them are catch weights. Floyd also used catch weights too I never said he didn’t. Just coz I criticised manny doesn’t mean I like floyd.

Btw I even said it’s manny opponents fault ultimately if they agree to catch weights, they can’t cry about them later.

Well, you called Manny the catch-weight king when his catch-weights don't benefit him.

Floyd and Canelo's catch-weights benefited them, not the opponent.
