Fury was not able to outbox Steve Cunningham. I see Wilder doing far better than Fury against Tyson. You need power to beat an 88' Tyson. You have to drop a hammer on him to get some respect. Otherwise, he smothers and pounds you to death. I love Tyson Fury, and he's a good boxer, but a fair ref that does not allow a lot of holding would be signing Fury's death warrant. He would get killed.

Douglas has attributes that no fighter today has. He was a good size fighter with excellent skills and athleticism. His fluidity makes Fury's look laughable. I'm not sure what was so bad about the Ruddock fights. Tyson stopped Ruddock in the 1st fight and beat him up in the 2nd fight. Those fights, along with Lewis hammering him, ruined Ruddock's career. Tyson was still a good fighter after prison, but he was little more than a head hunter by 1990. His fall from being a great technician had nothing to do with "prime". He was a lazy guy that only used trainers that would kiss his ass.

As far as Holy, I don't think a clean Holyfield would have beaten Tyson. His fight against Moorer, his odd stamina issue against Bowe and his late career cliff drop were all due to his hit and miss experience with PEDS. Personally, I had some of the worst stamina hills and valleys when i was using.

You realise Douglas had shown nothing much in his career up to the point when he KO'd Tyson? Fact is he was better than his CV up to that point. Fury's last display was a masterclass. Judge him on that.

He just trolled atg/hof fighters with total garbage. He's a clown. You defend that then you are as bad. And I've no idea what agenda you're talking about. Agenda against disrespectful clowns and fools? Yup. Guilty!

He outboxed the hell out of Oliver McCall. A guy that knocked Lennox Lewis out.

I've watched Fury vs Wlad about 10 times. I saw nothing but a load of feints and running. There were no hard punches landed in the whole fight. People discount Tyson's win over a 38 year old Holmes where he hammered him throught the mat. A champion that had never been stopped, and was ripped off of his title in his previous fight. Some of the same people give Fury credit for his super negative feint and run fest against a 39 year old Wlad that was shown it be super shop worn in his previous fight.

Douglas was Cinderella for one night only. I would compare him to Hughie Fury in that he had good size, an excellent jab and movement but not much tnt. Douglas possibly slightly faster than Fury is but Fury probably has a better chin. In summation, I think Hughie Fury in a couple of years would also have knocked out that Tokyo Tyson.

Ruddock was a chinny fighter that threw big power shots and was pretty limited. He went into the two fights with Tyson with no fear as he knew anything Douglas could do he could do. Tyson was in better shape for those fights but still struggled. Holyfield also had no fear of Tyson. You take away Mike's fear factor and he is not as dangerous, and every atg getting in the ring in a h2h knows he can be run on the end of a jab, tied up and knocked out.

Well, the Vegas casinos weren't impressed or convinced by his efforts vs McCall. Had Douglas at 40/1 to beat Mike.

What has that to do with McCall obliterating Lennox Lewis? The odds really mean nothing. The notion at the time was that Tyson was the most destructive heavyweight that boxing had ever seen. The oddsmakers and the general public had no idea that Tyson was a drug addict that could not be bothered to train and was getting his ass kicked in the gym when he did bother to show up.

I have personally been at the Golden Gloves gym in Vegas where I saw Tyson get beaten up and knocked on his ass by a fridge contender. At a time where people still viewed him as being "The Man". Far later, I also remember vividly him bringing hookers to the gym before he fought Danny Williams asking people to get him some weed. The guy was lazy and a drug addict. This does not work when you're a tiny little guy that is 5'10" on a good day.

Douglas was faster, more fluid, and had a far better aresenal of punches than Fury. In most of his fights, he also sat down on his punches far better than Hughie. Douglas was a great talent, but he was too lazy and mentally weak to stay at the top of the division for long. He had the same affliction as Bowe. He would rather eat than train. You could see when he fought Holyfield just how dull his reactions were. He didn't bother to train properly. His timing and reactions told on him more than his weight.

We will see how good Fury is when he fights someone that's good again. He looked talented against Parker, but you can't win a title being that negative. I like both Fury's, but they fight even more negative than Wlad.

I agree 100% that on that one night Douglas showed more than H Fury has shown to date in his career, but I think by the time Hughie is 26-29 he'll have caught right up and will likely have a run as champion longer than one win. That's if he's dedicated and trains.
