Possible, 100%. Did you not see the size difference. Linares nearly twice the width of him, shoulders are very wide
He's definitely being ironic lol, I think he's mocking the insufferable Loma nut slobbering that's been happening for the past 48 hours.
I’ve seen these pre-fight weigh ins before. One fighter may weigh in with shoes on and heavy clothes, while another wears no shoes and just light shorts and a t-shirt.
You think Linares was 50-55lb heavier on fight night? Are you Ray Charles in disguise? No one would ever be 50lb+ heavier a day later. Ever. At any point. Especially not at 5'8". Your judgement of weight based on physique is ****ing horrendous, mate. Do people actually know how much a lb is? Linares was at absolute tops 25lbs heavier, probably closer to 20lbs. 20lbs is still a lot of weight.
The question may be, what were you watching? My scorecard was 85-85, the same as one of the judges. Another judge had it 86-84 Linares, and one had it 86-84 for Loma. The notion that Loma had things under control was not shared by the judges, and a lot of people that know how to score a fight. Compubox, while not perfect, also disagrees with your notion that Loma was in control. I might suggest watching that fight with no commentary as they were nut hugging Loma badly. As far as your comment on footwork, Loma uses angles to get behind his opponents elbows, so that he can safely throw power shots. He was mitigated to throwing a lot of pitter patter because he was getting beaten to the spot over and again. He was not landing his flurries because of his typical footwork dominance. He had to use a lot of pressure and feints to throw flurries. Luckily, this fatigued Linares mentally more than anything, and his waning focus was getting him tagged. It was a good fight, and I don't see how anyone could see this as anythig but super close. You're welcome to your opinion, just don't be surprised with others that disagree because we don't share your bias.
Munguia has huge shoulders but doesn't carry weight in his core. I can see how he's a 154 pounder. He's buikd like Hugo Pineda.
id believe 144lbs for Linares. 152? i dont think so. He clearly looked bigger than loma but he didnt look monsterously bigger.
what a bunch of biased bs! Anyone that had Linares up or tied is blind or dumb. The judges are typical nowadays. Boxing judging is a mess of corruption.
Very well said. I was rooting for Loma but moreso I was rooting for a great fight and that's what we got. I don't understand why some Loma fans are im complete denial.
Are you really citing judges scorecards to bolden your claim that it was close? You’ve lost all credibility there. I did watch it without commentary the next day, absolutely no difference, the fight wasn’t close and anyone who thinks it was should learn how to score a fight or watch a different sport 1) what do you mean “luckily” this tired Linares out. If a boxer is constantly making people work and using body shots the whole way through, how on this earth is that lucky? 2). Lets believe your account for a second, that just makes Loma seem even better as he would’ve moved up a weight, adjusted his style and beat the champion at 135. It’s really only you who disagrees, if you look around, you’ll find it’s you who’s disagreed with on this
Munguia weighed a lot more than Ali, hell, it looked like a set-up fight. Damn, a light heavyweight against a welterweight..............................
