    May 20th @ Ota-City Gymnasium. IBF minimumweight title at stake (Kyoguchi's 2nd defense).

    This is a voluntary defense for Kyoguchi after knocking out Carlos Buitrago, then his mandatory #1 contender, on New Year's Eve. Paras is ranked 28th in the world on BoxRec @ 105lbs, and is currently not ranked at that weight by any major org. He is ranked #8 by the WBO up at junior flyweight, and #15 in that division by the IBF (the pertinent division here, where Kyoguchi holds the belt three pounds south).

    Paras is ½″ taller and 5 years the champion's junior, only 19. His record is 13-0 (11), and Kyoguchi's is 9-0 (7) - meaning somebody's 0 has got to go and it will probably happen in explosive fashion. :thumbsup:

    Kyoguchi's new IBF mandatory is Paras' countryman Mark Anthony Barriga following the dominant & flawless schooling by "The Little Boy" of IBF #7 Gabriel Mendoza this past Sunday (https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...iga-vs-gabriel-emilio-mendoza-lora-rbr.607612). Hopefully the IBF enforces that match-up next if Paras fails in his assignment.

    Still wish Barriga went the WBO route, Barriga Vs Yamanaka would be a purists dream

    See Kyoguchi stopping Paras in 5 or 6, physical mismatch IMO. Shame it won't be televised live, apparently it will be shown on delay if Taguchi takes out Budler early on, or will be shown almost a week later -_- and I thought TV Tokyo were crap

    It's be a pretty big shock, but not quite upset of the year nomination worthy I don't think...Lagumbay stopping Obara and Berwela stopping Saenganan Sithsaithong,were both more surprising IMO, but admittedly a lot less high profile.

    It was for a legal stream which a lot of Russian shows do, but I deleted it quickly just in case

    Paras is one of my favorite prospects. He’s easily one of the best body punchers in the Philippines. He’s not quick by any means but he is relentless.

    He was dropped for the first time in his last fight. It was a flash knockdown against another pretty good prospect (from what I saw) in Aldren Moreno who was a former member of the Philippines’ national team in his amateur days. So it was pretty good matchmaking.

    Moreno was outboxing Paras with the jab. Paras was down big, especially with the knockdown, and needed a knockout to win. He destroyed Moreno’s body for a couple rounds until his fellow prospect succumbed.

    This is far too early for him but I expect him to give it all he’s got, he’s that type of fighter.
