Very intriguing 126 pound match up. Both guys are very skilled and this should be a good fight. I favor the champion Russell to win by decision. :chuck:

How do you guys see this fight playing out?

GRJ presents a lot of difficulty, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Diaz Jr. will beat the odds to take GRJ’s belt.

There’s a reason why he DEMANDED a fight with GRJ, when all the other so-called elite fighters at 126 conduct themselves as if GRJ doesn’t exist. Golden Boy wouldn’t risk his record and reputation if they didn’t see a weakness in GRJ that they feel Diaz Jr. can exploit.

If I’m wrong about this fight, Diaz will never fully recover from defeat.

I think Russell wins somewhat comfortable dec and drops Diaz in the later rounds

Jo Jo will win a round here and there, but ultimately get outworked, fall behind on the cards and get stopped in the later rounds. He's a southpaw like Loma, but his footwork isn't good enough to allow him to get in and out of range fast enough without being countered, and his defense isn't sound enough to avoid the maelstrom of shots that will be coming his way. At least not all of them.

    50/50 fight

This is why I appreciate GBP over most promotional companies. Oscar has always maintained that as a fighter you need to seek the best challenges.

Do you think Diaz can emulate the bodywork Loma did on Russell?

In spurts, but not consistently enough for it to have the same effect.

I just remembered.. Isn't he one of Oscar fishnets fighter's?

Scrap my above prediction.. Diaz by wide UD after Russell TKOs him in the 9th.
