Come on, your going to put Fury there already! Surly that is a mistake? It must be a blooper.

His body of work includes punching himself in the face, suffering knockdowns against Cunningham and a Canadian guy. He was whipped by chisora and McDermott but got the decision, failed a drugs test...but he is a good singer, I’ll give him that much.

Think of the body of work Carnera has by comparison.

Joshua is still learning on the job. You gonna boost a kid this early? That’s a sure fire way to end up with egg on your face isn’t it?

    Bowe, Lewis, Vitali, Wlad, Joshua.

To his credit though, Primo was a top five Italian Superheavyweight. Definitely better than Pianeta but worse head to head than Damiani.

There really haven't been that many super heavyweights if the standard is 6'5 and up .. perhaps you can name the one's he was better than .. BTW I forgot Wilder .. if we were going to set the bar at 6'3" and 215 or more than

    Ali
    Foreman
    Norton
    Holmes
    Witherspoon
    Bruno
    Tubbs
    McCall
    Thomas
    Page
    Golata
    Lyle
    Bugner
    Carl Williams
    Michael Grant
    Shannon Briggs

Really the shorter list by far is who he could beat ..

Let's look at who people did beat.

Carnera beat better opposition than most of the fighters on that list, so a prediction that he could not beat them must be viewed as speculative at best.

Primo Carnera vs an Eddie Futch trained fighter?

    Thanks for the laugh

Carnera had a trainer that trained fighters that beat Futch trained fighters.

    Reality can be sobering.

Too bad primo was so stiff, uncoordinated and unathletic he never taught primo how to dominate much smaller man in a weak era

It didn’t help that primo couldn’t hit hard and couldn’t take a punch

Watch Anthony Joshua compared to primo

He did have a ridiculous schedule. 33 fights in one year. He fought almost all the boogey men of the division.

I don’t understand the comparison, but Carnera is probably less stiff than AJ, who himself is not exactly the model for an elastic fighter.

Carnera was an Abe Attell trained fighter.

He was schooled by somebody as good as Futch.

Attell's tutelage did more to break the deadlock for him, than any shenanigans by his management on his European tour.

For a brief moment in time, this poll really unified us as a forum. Well, 90% of us anyway.
