Williams has a large height advantage, great jab, good movement, long reach --all things that tended to trouble Shavers. Earnie had sledgehammers for fists, something that troubled the shaky-chinned Williams. Who do you pick in this fight? I take Earnie by KO.
Williams ought win this ,as mention he as so many advantage s .But Carl could be caught and dropped early ,and he's facing one of the biggest punchers in heavy weight history. I have a feeling that Carl could be jabbing the head off shavers shoulders ,when Earnie connect s with the A Bomb flush on the chin .I don't see Williams getting back on his feet to beat the count if so .
I think earnie knocks him out. Earnie almost had Holmes out and really put a beating on Ali, so I don't see Carl walking to the dressing room under his own power after the fight
I got Shavers sending the Truth into oblivion here. It's not that Williams couldn't win, it's that I think he wouldn't win. Shavers catches him and finishes him within the distance.
Carl thoroughly outboxes Shavers till the 1st clean Earnie's punch. Then it's lights out. Shavers by KO while losing on cards. I don't exclude Shavers by early KO.
While he is still standing, Shavers has a realistic chance, but the truth is , Williams should use his boxing brain and wear down The Acorn by the middle rounds.
This is part of it imo. I think Williams would get to the end and win a decision at times, and at other times Shavers would poleaxe him.
Carl was a very good boxer, but lets get real: Earnie is going to catch him at some point. And Carl doesn't have the chin to deal. Earnie by 3rd round kayo.
You make a good point, but I would point out Bomber Bruno had clubbing power, and yet an oldish Williams still made it to the tenth against Frank.
Carl would win 9 out 10 fights fantastic boxer and dont forget Shavers could be KOed and the truth had a decent punch! Unless Shavers gets lucky he gets busted up
