Not really. He made a ton of defenses, beat some very good fighters. Hated for arrogance, yes. But not really too overrated IMO. And I hated him as well.

    Joshua.

Got a gift Olympic gold, and went life and death with a 41 year old past prime Klitschko coming from a loss after a 16 month lay-off.

The best guys he fought were either way past their best or nothing special in the 1st place. One of his best victories was Kevin Kelley. After being stopped by Alejandro Gonzalez, Kevin had been dropped by Tommy Parks and dropped and almost stopped by mediocrity Ricardo Rivera. All of those fights took place before he fought Hamed. I think that speaks for itself.

Hamed also made Vuyani Bungu look like a child--same guy who had double digit title defenses and beat Kennedy McKinney twice.

Every single above average to Good to great gets vastly over rated by many and even under rated by others.

Being so subjective its truly simply opinions for the most part

So what? Bungu is one of those fellows that Hamed fans love to overrate to make their hero look better than he actually was. Fact is Bungu was moving up from 122. In just 2 of the 3 fights before Hamed, Bungu BARELY beat those 2 worldbeaters Ernesto Grey and Danny Romero at 122 lol. Years before that, a better version of Danny was beaten far more convincingly at superflyweight-a weight that Danny was better suited for than 122- by Johnny Tapia than Bungu beat him at 122.

You're just proving he's not overrated by taking it that far.

Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Superflyweight Johnny Tapia beat a smaller, better version of Romero more convincingly than a naturally bigger Bungu did. And Romero fought Tapia BEFORE Bungu did. All that does is prove how overrated Bungu was (of course by Hamed fans), ESPECIALLY at 126. Hey feel free to overrate Bungu all you want. Doesnt change the facts though- you know, what actually happened.

There is nobody who rates Hamed above Morales, Barerra, or Marquez. But he's a little bit ahead of Tapia and next to someone like Zaragoza.

You cannot be serious with this statement. I've been on these boards for many, many years. The vast majority of his fans not only rate him as one of the greatest featherweights ever, but almost unanimously claim that a "prime" Hamed would have stopped Barrera in their fight. That is why he is so overrated.

I've observed Hamed-Barerra almost becoming folklore on here as some sort of "ultimate schooling." It was a fight two judges scored 7-5 and that's with neither guy landing much in any of the rounds. It's the only fight I can think of that's held in that regard despite being fairly close, and Hamed sucked on that night.

Edit:8-4 with a two point margin due to a deduction.

Hamed was made to look like a rank amateur. He looked foolish. MAB simply exposed what a dumb, low IQ fighter Hamed actually was. Barrera won 8 rounds easily, Hamed barely won 2, and 2 could have gone either way-I had them for MAB. The judges were way overly generous probably because he was the cash cow. Think about something. Barrera knew he was so far up that he decided to risk a point deduction (which is what happened) and slam-in over his head-Hamed's head into the ring post towards the end of the fight. Honestly, do you believe such an intelligent fighter like Marco would have chanced that had it been a legitimate 2 point fight? We both know the truth.
