babylonians are the oldest known civilization. most of the stories in the old testament are ripped off from their myths. like the tale of gilgamesh. written a full thousand years before the old testament. many examples of this. the bible mentions hades on the first page, from the older greek mythology.

 

Babylon is fascinating. Babylon is also a typography of the fallen world in general. “Babylon is fallen! Is fallen!”
Anyway, we’d disagree on chronology so I doubt it’s fruitful to discuss it too much.
When would you say Babylon began? Do you believe in imrod?
What about Sumer being the oldest civilization?.

 

i am sure the oldest civilization will never be known, short of invention of a time machine. what is ironclad at the moment is a number of civilizations predate the hebrews. including egypt, greek city states, sumeria....we disagree on this, i am sure. i hold that against no one, yet most christians refuse to have anything to do with anyone not believing in their faith. in the states here, they feel persecuted for no longer being legally or socially acceptably able to persecute non believers.

 

Believe it or not, there’s a lot of irony in your post - at least from my POV. I’d say the biggest problem with most so-called Christians is their willingness to have too much to do with nonbelievers! Have you heard any modern Christian “music”? We ain’t talking about Come Thou a Fount of Eveery Blessing or The Old Rugged Cross. It’s more like John Mayer
Modern Christianity is like the old joke about the Holy Roman Empire...it was neither holy, nor Roman nor an empire. Anyhoo, I doubt this comforts you. And speaking of that, we both have the common ground that neither of us are happy with modern Christianity.

 

then you obviously are fine with christians persecuting anyone who doesn't believe or believes in other religions. as far as music, christian music is where those who can't sell anymore go ( kerry livgren) or where people get their start then abandon it. country music almost ensures a hit if the message is christian.

have a great night. btw, i think kerry livgren is an all time great lyricist and musician. that bands like the ramones are in the rock and roll hall of fame and kansas (among many others) isn't is a travesty.

if you have never listened to kansas, i highly recommend them. great musicians, great lyrics. kerry livgren went on to form the christian rock bands ad and protokaw after leaving kansas. also recorded a few songs of his with supposed satanist ronnie james dio singing.
