Leonard was a big welter, that much was true, but Leonard's size didn't play a roll in Duran quitting, it was his movement. Loma moves very well and uses angles from a southpaw stance. You are correct, Duran was a one of a kind fighter at 135. That's why I can't pick a winner off hand. Duran/Loma would be a very interesting fight.

No comparison. The negative movement Leonard used against Duran in the no mas fight is completely different to how Loma moves.

So, you're saying there is no way Loma could beat Duran? I'm saying, it's difficult for me to say who would win because of issues both have had in their careers.

Yes, there is no way Loma could beat 135 prime Roberto Duran. Duran has massive physical advantages. Even if equally as skilled and athletic Duran is the much stronger and much more powerful. Duran only struggled with movers above and beyond his prime. There's also the fact Loma would never be able to even remotely hurt Duran.

The Salido mauling was child's play compared to what Duran was capable of at 135. Duran wouldn't stand there while Loma feinted and probed, nor would he be getting danced around on like the other fighters Loma toyed with. Duran would absolutely FORCE the fight inside and Loma's angles would be negated by Duran's grapple tactics. Also, Duran would never be discouraged as he would be able to get inside, unlike his No Mas fight with Leonard, who completely negated Duran's grappling with movement.

Loma isn't Leonard and fights nothing like him.

Duran is similar to Salido, just hundreds of levels above him.

Duran by vicious KO late in the fight. Loma's tough, but Duran will maul him every single round and eventually wear him down.

You may be right and you make very valid points. Duran would be favored, But I can't write the Ukrainian off 100%. I am very impressed with him. But, when speaking Duran, you are speaking in terms of a rarefied air that can only be taken in by the immortals of boxings Mt. Olympus.

As much as Lomachenko is a special talent, Duran was even more so, and proved himself at a higher level than Loma ever has, or probably ever will. Still, I'll give Loma the respect of going the distance, it would take some effort for a guy his size to stop him

Lomachenko does strength training, he can bounce around the ring on his hands, but you think that a guy who spent most of his time in bars is going to be stronger? Lomachenko is a full time fighter, he just beat a man who out weighed him by 15 pounds at fight time, the guy was probably bigger than SRL and Lomachenko was just as fresh in the 10th round as he was in the first. Lomachenko trains full time.

Duran was a part time boxer by comparison, a guy who let himself go between fights, a guy who trained 4-6 weeks for big fights. Duran was great in his time, but today, guys like Lomachenko take care of themselves between fights, they still train when they don't have a fight, they don't abuse their bodies and get fat between fights. Lomachenko is stronger, better conditioned and more skilled than Duran.

More moronicism? Is that a word lol, but it fits? Loma could not beat a old ass Salido how is he going to beat a monster like Duran?

Oh let me guess you are going to counter with how great of an athlete Loma is huh?

This forum never never ceases to amaze me sometimes. Loma dominated (bar getting put on his ass) a good but far from great in Linares and has schooled some other good fighters but it's far too early to pick him over the GOAT at 135, much too early.

Lomachenko hasn't fought anybody of note to even merit consideration to be mentioned with Roberto Duran.

Loma has a better chance at seeing Jesus Smoking a blunt on a unicycle with the grass skirt then beating Duran!

Duran would probably be even better with the aid of the day before weigh in.
