I hate to pour cold water on tonight's fight but let's get some perspective here. Selby was awful and Josh wasn't great either. It was quantity over quality all the way. Josh isn't ready for Frampton and maybe never will be, unless Carl gets old overnight. Can't see Frampton losing any sleep over josh. I doubt JW s high tempo approach would beat Frampton. Josh would be eating sharp crisp hard counters. No matter how fit josh is they will take a toll. It will be a whole different ball game against Frampton, if it ever happens.

Selby was poor tonight but I think your being harsh.

Warrington didn't have to be great, as Selby made so many mistakes (tactics for starters).

That's not Warringtons fault though and he landed some good shots (heavier ones for the most part also), he did what he was told and was the better fighter on the night.

I thought the fight was alright to be honest, I enjoyed it, maybe just because the underdog was surprising me though.

I do have to agree that Frampton should manage to comfortably beat Warrington though. The reason Warrington's approach tonight brought so much success was because Lee Selby doesn't offer anything when someone swarms him bad.

Tonight was as good a lesson in, power really counts, as you're likely to see.
You don't have to be a concussive puncher, but you do have to have enough snap in them to keep your opponent off you if he's got an engine like Warrington's. Unfortunately for Selby, he doesn't possess even so much as that.

Different against Frampton, you start like that and he gets you a couple swift and accurate jabs, they're punches you're gonna feel and make you say, yeah I can't eat those all night. THEN you're able to use your superior boxing skills to go on and win (as Frampton will).

I think he’s too big for the weight now. He looked like he was fighting when hung over. You know when you’ve not ate or drank for about 24 hours, you stand up and your vision is blurry, you’re slighty dizzy and you’re limbs feel heavy as ****.

He just did not look comfortable at all. Well done to Warrington great performance, I thought he looked too hyped up before he fight but he did the business. If Selby was more comfortable at the weight he still wins.

Always posted that I thought Selby was simply boring feather fisted turd that killed arena atmospheres when on the undercard of big fights.

The clue is aways there when one wins a single World Title belt and three years later has steered well clear of unification fights.

I thought Warrington's power looked decent tbh (in the context of this fight), he snapped Lee's head back numerous times and clearly stopped him in his tracks. Lee's however.....

Agreed, as well as the physical downsides you pointed out, he also looked like his cognitive processes were slowed as well. He wasn't thinking fast or adapting.

Thought Selby looked done at the weight...but Warrington looked strong at the weight. Good performance from the kid. Done what he had to do. Think he,ll grow into his career. Career best performance for me. Not a lot not to like.

It doesn't look like Josh will be facing Carl anytime soon. Warren will want to milk the Leeds crowd for all its worth first. But I do think Carl beats Josh handily if the did fight this summer. Can't see warren allowing it though.....

No he wouldn't, Carl will definitely be too sharp for him and he will use angles and pivot (won't go back in straight lines).

It more than just swivelling away though. Carl can crack. FWIW I think Carl would have beaten Warrington tonight. Carl isn't a killer puncher but he can crack. After getting clipped by crisp sharp hard counters fron Carl, Josh's output would slow right down. He has a great engine, but getting hit takes it out of you. Plus as you say Carl doesn't retreat in straight lines.
Unless Josh gets Carl at the end of his career and beats an old a washed up Carl I can't see him winning. Frampton is levels above Josh and bixing as they say, is all about levels.....

Frampton & Warrington would be a great fight. I could make arguments for both fighters. Frampton has the greater pedigree as exemplified in his last performance in which every aspect of it was exceptional. Inspired by a Belfast crowd i’d have to make him the favourite...however, Warrington is younger, fresher, bigger & arguably demonstrated last night that he isn’t a mindless pressure fighter who aims to drag the boxer into a scrap. He is actually educated in his pressure, with excellent lateral movement. He throws nice counters but also throws with the punches especially if he doesn’t respect the opponents power. Does Frampton carry the pop at featherweight to discourage Warrington from coming forward? Warrington also fights at a high tempo, whereas Frampton does less quantity but more quality.

Can’t wait for it. Just to add @lencoreastside i agree about levels (in every fight), but sometimes other variables come into play to balance things out a little.
