Sone good talents there, but I feel like it's a division where guys just end up breathing hard cuz they're so damn old that they have no gas tank.

Stevenson is old. Jack is old. Kovalev is old. Barrera is old. If Ward comes back hes old. Beterviev is getting old.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bivol and Gvozdyk destroy everybody because everybody else in the division is just worried about breathing and getting air.

And what's the deal with New Mexico? It's not new, and it's not Mexico.

Stevenson just burst onto the scene very late, when he had his big break fight in Dawson YEARS back even then he was kinda old, his "prime" was very short lived. I mean it's literally like 1 fight.

Ward had a long career prior to 175 so nothing to see there, the Eastern Euro guys, I mean this is the curse of having long amateur careers, they all turn pro in their late 20s and it doesn't leave much time for a great career unless you're like Loma and just get super fast tracked or can fight past your 30s and still be relatively in your prime (ala GGG).

All these guys get worked by Bivol and Gvozdyk at this point. Their the only guys young enough to fight 12 rounds without breathing like a train.

This the very reason Yarde wont take a fight , another 18 months of dodging and everyones retired or for the taking and he has a good chance of getting one of the belts

I think we have to redefine 'old' in this era of boxing. For all sorts of reasons boxer's athletic window is much larger today than in the past, and later in terms of years the further you go up the weight divisions...

Thing as well is though with the stamina is that, Kova and Stevenson always seemed to have stamina issues. It's not just the age factor.

Probably because they just throw hard shots 24/7 and it takes higher toll on their stamina, Kovalev's training looks pretty intense but he still gasses early and he has seemingly tried everything to improve it so it's just one of those things.

If you're over 35 and are forced into a fight of attrition you are ****ed.

I think they over do the Amateur thing,I mean maybe that’s what makes em so good but imagine if Lomo had come in four years earlier.

That’s the scary thing about Jack cause Kovalev loses the power on his shots after five rounds(Ward said so)but with Jack and funny enough around the same time an ageing Bute also found this ability to seemingly have more power in the championship rounds than early on.
Have to say it looks highly suspect when late in their careers they get a new found lease of energy,in Bute’s case it looked like Froch had ruined him but after about four fights he found something extra and became this beast late on in fights giving DeGale a tear up and same with Jack looking so strong at the end.
