I know! Awesome stuff alright....only cloud on the horizon is the opponent. Styles make fights and selby pecks and pokes his way thru fights. No disrespect to Lee but Him and Carl mightn't gel well at all....be a better scrap if josh bests Lee.....or Russell wins and agrees to travel....that way the fans get a better fight (and a more winnable one for Carl).

It's hard to see how short stubby Carl can counterpunch his way to victory against long rangy Lee. Styles ...and physiques...make fights and Lee is all wrong for Carl IMO. That's not to say Carl can't beat him,...just that its a big ask. Warring would suit Carl a lot better.

Did you see the post fight talk in the ring? Warren in there with his new Leeds cash cow Warrington? No attempt to put Carl in there with jw. No way will warren put his two cash cows in together. Carl ain't gonna be getting Warrington in Belfast. Warrens doing very little for Carl. Carl shudda gone with Hearn and "earn with Hearn" for a better career. Carl prob will go the WBO route, but no jw for him this summer in Belfast.

FWIW I think Carl would have beaten Warrington tonight. Carl isn't a killer puncher but he can crack. After getting clipped by crisp sharp hard counters fron Carl, Josh's output would slow right down. Lee just was too weak a puncher to keep Josh honest.

What do the rest of ye think about Carl's situation?

That's what I would have thought. Didn't he go with warren on the basis of a "big fight" ie a world title fight at Windsor this summer? That was Carl's key demand as I recall. True?

Now unless Norn iron fans are complete mugs ...or completely star struck by Carl....they won't pay out in stadium-filling numbers to watch Carl fight Paddy Palooka.

And unless Carl is a complete mug....at this stage of his career HE won't want to fight paddy palooka either, correct?

For Carl at this stage he really needs to go straight into a title fight next. He's had his warm up against Nonito Donaire. Now the title fight. Nothing less will do.

So where does that leave us?

who is warren gonna get for Carl in August?

    1. Is there a case for saying that Warrington's win on Saturday In Leeds got rid of ANY excuse for Frank warren not delivering a title fight in Belfast for Carl as he committed to do all along. Franks own guy Josh now has the title. Had selby won he might have a case along the lines of..."I don't control selby..or Russell...or LSC nor Valdez etc" .......but with his own man, Josh Warrington now holding the IBF belt I can't see how he can weasel out of delivering for Carl as promised...and if he does surely it's likely that Carl has a strong case for breach of contract against warren.

Do you think it would need to be a real world title fight to fill Windsor with big spending fans? Has Carl enough appeal to fill Windsor in another non title, stay busy type fight?

i dont think carl could walk away from warren... to much is tied up with the deal to start fresh with another new promoter.... carl seems adamant that windsor is happening in august... maybe they could pull another veteran legend out of the woodwork to satisfy the paying public.... at the moment i think windsor is a 50/50 chance of taking place at all...

I don't know the details of the contract with warren one way or the other to say whether Carl can walk away form it. Carl should be insisting it's Warrington in August. Never mind this "too soon" nonsense. It's all set up for Warrington to be the opponent. Who else is there? For Carl's sake has to be Warrington for the title. Nothing else is any use to him.
