Still possible to get a draw. Knockdowns could make it a draw. But I get your drift, it's a good idea. A change I would like to see, but is already in the rules, is the 10-8 round with no knockdown, being more widely used for a dominant round. Doesn't seem fair that a round won by a fighter just edging it gets the same reward as the fighter who goes out and clearly wins the round, dominates, beats up his opponent etc. 10-9 for a close round and 10-8 for a clear round. It'd hopefully discourage fighters trying to win fights by just 'nicking' rounds.
only if you also disallowing giving 10-10 rounds, which I would disagree with. Some rounds are too inactive / tight to call and giving it to one fighter would be an unfair coin-toss.
I’d loosen the Ped restrictions. No anabolic steroids or growth hormone. But I don’t really care about stuff that mildly enhances cardio etc. and isn’t dangerous to use especially if used in training and not during a fight. It irritates me that fights like Povetkin-Wilder and Canelo-GGG II got cancelled. In a perfect world nobody would use any drug, but I also want to see the damn fights happen as long as nobody is in Ben Johnson mode.
I would go further: Judges should rewatch the fight AFTERWARDS and make some notices round by round. Those notices should be published. Everyone should be able to retrace WHY a judge scored a fight like he did.
Without question what I would incorporate into a fight would be "going to the tape" when necessary. For example, to see if a fighter went down from a punch or a slip or trip. Or to see when a punch was landed at the bell. Video replay is used in virtually every sport and for good reason.
100%, and then ring weigh in to make sure there's no excessive rehydration taking place. Maybe 10 lbs maximum from the morning weigh in.
It angers me and impresses me..at the same time. While it is horrible to use, I'm amazed someone can put on 15lbs in a damn day. I'm not sure Gman would've beatan Julian Jackson with the same day weigh in. I tried to find a vid with the tale of the tape, but fortunately the commentators mention it This content is protected "Gerald the only fighter whohad trouble at the weigh in. ...I think tonight he is close to 180" Damn Pimp C ....180?... and at the end of the vid Julian say's Gerald is the biggest middle weight he ever fought. Noschhit?!?! Just a damn shame to have a fighter who walks around at 160, fighting at 160 against a dude who weighs it 24 hours then comes in at a damn cruiser....
Standing 8 count is great in theory. If it were used more, the controversy of fights would be even higher. More faith and power in the hands of the ref. I happen to think that's a bad thing. Ultimately it's the fighters who need to be smart enough to take a knee.
MORE 10-8 rounds for a round where one boxer dominates another without a KD. MORE 10- 7 rounds for rounds with knockdowns.
