I have just finished watching Harold Brazier vs Anthony Stephens. Before watching it I knew nothing about them, although I did recognise there both of names, as having fought better known fighters. What a great fight! Well worth watching. A great veteran performance from Brazier. I agree with the commentary team. His tight veteran defence and clean counter punching won him the fight. He was full of veteran tricks. The way he would roll with shots and block them on his arms before immediately coming back. I love performances like this. Especially from a guy with so many fights who has had a long career! I will certainly watch more of Brazier. Credit to Stephens, who never stops trying. This content is protected (annoyingly it is missing round 4) For those of us who remember this/ have watched it, what do we think? For those who haven't I recommend watching it. What are our overall thoughts of both guys involved in the fight? Any particular memorable moments from either of their careers? There is a second fight between the two which I shall watch tonight.
This content is protected A disappointment compared to the first fight. Stephens no doubt fought a much better fight this time. His jab was better, as was his movement. But it was obvious to me that the four years in between the two fights (and numerous more fights that Brazier had) had a big effect on Brazier. His reflexes and timing were not there anymore. It was a total opposite of the first fight. Stephens was landing many more punches and landing them much more clean this time.
No. Brazier beat the hot prospect John Meekins and that was a master class. He also put on a clinic vs Baronet in the second bout. He beat the hell out of Larry Barnes only to get robbed. He was a wonderful boxer who had that tight defense. Both his bouts with Pompey were exciting esp the first one-you should check them out.
