The fight will probably be in Chicago, no problem to fill the arena with 15 000 plus bulgarians there .Tervel Pulev is fighting in june there , so the bulgarian diaspora will be pumped for the two brothers. But sudenly Hearn and White went quiet , don't think they want it.
Problem is being a big star in Bulgaria is like being a big star down my local pub it doesn't mean much. Pulev's last 2 fights were in the Armeec arena which only has a 12K capacity, which is obviously small compared to Whyte who's filled the 21K O2 arena. Also the average Bulgarian salary is a quarter of the UK's the ticket prices would likely reflect that. So Pulev's live gate is likely an 8th of what Whyte is making in the UK and so the chances of the fight being in Bulgaria are non-existent. Even if Kalle had won the bid it would of been in Germany not Bulgaria.
Yeah I was thinking something like that. While it's possible they make a profit it's not going to be easy. I have no doubt Whyte/Pulev could near fill the O2, which would cover more than half that investment, it will come down to TV rights. I can't see a US network caring about 2 European heavyweights with no world titles, so US TV money is unlikely. Sky and Boxnation will likely be the front runner for the UK market. German TV would likely be interested.
I hope this purse bid won't fall apart. They had to deposit 10% of the purse bid already, didn't they? To show the seriousness of their intentions?
all seems a bit fishy? whyte has the option to fight either an ibf eliminator or wbc eliminator so is in a good situation I thought hearn and whyte already had something planned for the 28th of july??? hearn offers peanuts for the pulev fight and I cant see Ortiz being ready to go for the 28th I reckon we'll get whyte vs chisora 2 now
Interesting to see how close Hearn and Sauerland were to each other. Good indication of the likely market value of the fight. Also like the way two bids close on 111. Probably some deep and meaningful reason behind that involving advanced psychology or cthulu worship.
Yes you have to deposit 10% first and then another 10% a week later I think. I don't think they would of made the bid if they didn't have the money, while their experience when it comes to boxing seems very limited, having looked at the company they seem to have done a lot of PR events for other sports like golf. I'm pretty certain the fight will go through as long as Pulev doesn't pull out or have another mysterious injury.
Without O'Connor as referee, and Parris, Edwards, IJL as judges, this can certainly end up as a clear UD for Pulev.
I also think that fight happens in Chicago. More than 100K Bulgarians live officially there. Also a lot of them in Canada and all over US. Dillian will have to fight in front of a very hostile crowd
Pulev is very old and shot so easy work for Whyte. I suggest that when Whyte shakes hands with Don Kings Lackey, that he checks his wrist afterwards as his Rolex will most likely be missing.
