Totally disagree. Beating Horn adds nothing to Crawford's resume. Horn got the gift of the year in his fight against Pac, and prior to that, he had beaten goat herders, cattle rustlers, and truckers.

Who's to say that Pac didn't get old overnight vs Horn or that it was simply a bad styles match up for Pac? What else has Horn done that is even remotely notable.

I don't think it's extremely flawed at all. Gamboa after his first lost has not looked good at all and lost multiple times already, while Russell picked up a belt and is still on the rise. I think based on that note, they're just not comparable to me. I think pac beat horn so I'm not sure that would even be enough to boost him over Loma even then.

If you thought Horn got a gift then yes, it wouldn't add much. But I thought either guy could have won it. Horn was just so awkward and Pac couldn't land on him. I never got this narrative of Pac being completely robbed like it was a Murata/N'dam type robbery.

The reason why it's flawed is we have to look at what fighters have done before. Gamboa was PROVEN before. He was older and at the tail end of his career. This wasn't a 26 year old Gamboa who lost a decision and had a bright future. That's why it's flawed. You don't agree that losing your 0 by getting KO in your biggest fight affects your career especially at the tail-end?

Not much, but neither has Linares really. Linares wins are UK domestic guys who haven't beat world level opponents.

I call it how it is. The Pac win was an extremely good win. Pac didn't even look old, he had his speed. Horn was just big and awkward.

It can affect you on a negative way, sure, but I think it's better to look at how they bounce back after losing for the first time, rather than what they did to get to that point. Gamboa hasn't been the same since while Russell has gotten a whole lot better.

Some guys just naturally ruin fighters, though. Applies to both sides of this particular argument, it should be noted.

Yeah but that's due to several factors. One Russell didn't get stopped or even badly hurt. Russell was never a world champion and had a lot to prove. Gamboa was already PROVEN and was most likely not even close to as motivated as Russell since he already accomplished a lot and was on p4p. We also have to note his promotional issues, Gamboa and GRJ aren't fighters who age well. So yes of course Gamboa now in his mid 30's isn't going to look good compared to GRJ who isn't even 30.

I think that Gamboa had as much to do with ruining his career as Crawford. I feel like he just lost motivation due to promotional issues and aging. Gamboa's style ages bad and the Crawford fight was his last hurrah.
