    We should.

    Everyone has his opinion.

But Big George is the only one HW in history to destroy the reigning undefeated undisputed HW champion in such a quick and brutal fashion (TKO 2 vs 29-0 Joe Frazier). Maybe I'm missing something?

And Big George is the only one HW in history to regain an undispated HW title at the age of 45, 20 years after he lost it! And no one else have ever won the lineal HW title after 40.

I'd say this puts him a bit above "average."

You sure don't seem to care much for him, that initial post was full of disdain, and picking apart all the signature wins of a fighter is a sign that you're at best, not a fan.

I should make a topic about this, but as I often say, I'll never understand people who seem doubly motivated to tear down the reputation of well regarded fighters than they do in championing the people they do like. That's not to say I haven't slung a few barbs myself in my time, but I'd always rather cheer for my favorites, or read about the forgotten greats than I would demolish myths and attack the overrated.

Small correction, George was Forty-eight against Briggs.

In fairness, you could write a similar post and address similar questions to the fanboys of several other heavyweights too. Though a lot of people on here tend exaggerate his physical qualities and ignore his weaknesses, Foreman’s ATG status and his allure to fight fans isn’t all that hard to understand, imo.

    100% true.
Can't be denied, it's there in the history books.
But not much in between for a guy who appears to sit so high in many people's ATG list.
That's only ever been my point.
I'm still waiting for someone to write out a decent ATG sized list of his notable/defining wins.

Lennox has deeper resume, but I wouldn't say it's way deeper. Holyfield was way past his prime, Tyson was beyond shot. Ruddock, Golota, Morrison, Tua, Mavrovic, Briggs (whom Foreman actually beat at almost 49), Botha, Grant, Bruno, Tucker, Jackson? I think Norton and Lyle were better than each of them, Moorer and even Cooney were better than most of them. Chuvalo, Peralta, Kirkman, Denis, Shultz and Savarese were at least as good as some of the mentioned guys from Lewis' resume. 29 y.o. Fraizer was better than 37 y.o. Holyfield. Vitali and Mercer? Two really, really good wins for Lewis, but Lennox didn't beat them up - he barely won and ducked rematches which he promised to both of them.
