I think it’s an intriguing match up because it’s close to a 50-50, both guys are excellent techinically. Canelo has the handspeed and combination punches and billy joe has excellent feet and knows how to switch up the range.

I think BJS would actually beat Canelo in theory but I just don’t see how you can beat Canelo on the cards. It would probably be a controversial SD or draw for me.

Who would you pick in the match and why?

Sounders boxes Clenelo's ears off, but gets robbed.

    Movement is Clenelo's kryptonite.

Saunders boxes Canelo's ears off and wins, because unlike GGG, Saunders style doesn't play right into Canelo's hands, therefore it won't even give the impression that its competitive.

BJ is also a big sturdy 160, but yes, stylistic nightmare got Ginger.

Can BJS do what mayweather did? I think Canelo is better than he was when mayweather beat him and I think Floyd does every Saunders does Bette. So whilst I lean to Saunders I can’t see him schooling Canelo, Canelo has a way of making fights competitive on the cards due to the amount of combos he puts together and the fact he lands cleanly when he does throw.

Since I think in some ways, Saunders is Mayweather's equal, yes. I think Saunders when he's fully keyed in, does everything Floyd does to near perfection. Also Saunders is a massive Middleweight, and probably hits far harder than Mayweather, therefore would probably make Canelo far more apprehensive, also Saunders is Mayweather, in a southpaw stance, and harder to hit clean than Lara and Trout, he undresses Canelo more comprehensively than all of them. And no, I'm not being hyprbolic.

Billy Joe Saunders moves way too much for him, and intriguingly, I think he'd also be the more confident of the two going into the fight. Of course Canelo is always dangerous and it'd be made tough for him but based on the fact that Billy Joe rises to the occasion for his big fights and he has the skill set for that to actually matter...Billy Joe Saunders SD/MD in my opinion.

I actually think Saunders is a smaller middleweight than GGG, he looks soft most of the time he has been at 160.
Canelo took GGGs best punches and didn’t go down I’m not sure there is anything Saunders can hit him with that would make him move like GGG did.

Yeah that south paw stance is problematic and I agree stylistically Saunders would do better than GGG did but I still think it’s very competitive , I just can’t see a white wash.

Sounders wins so wide and so easy even Adelaide Bird would have to give it to him. Sounders is huge at the weight but still has P4P lateral movement, killer speed and a wicked jab. Canelo is great, but Sounders has all the natural advantages in the ring. IMO Sounders will win 10 of 12 clear and get awarded a begrudging SD win.

Where are you guys getting the idea he is huge at the weight? Jacobs is huge at the weight, before joining up with Ingle Saunders never even had a six pack and was carrying fat. How can you be huge at the weight if you have fat to burn? Usually guys who are ripped and have a low body fat percentage would be considered huge, because they can rehydrate and add back on all that water weight after their weigh in.

I do agree about the looks, but on the other hand it's no secret that Saunders has sometimes struggled to make 160 lb.

There are almost no similarities between how Mayweather fought Canelo and how BJS fought Lemieux.

Yes both Mayweather and BJS are difficult to hit, but they have very different approaches to defense. Saunders uses more constant footwork, Floyd stands in front of you more and moves his upper body and gloves to avoid / block punches. If BJS fought Canelo, I think he'd be on his bike most of the fight and Canelo would be the aggressor. BJS would fight Canelo a lot like Amir Khan did, with constant footwork, fight mostly from the outside, get in a couple of punches, move back out. Canelo would be trying to time BJS like he did Khan.

BJS stylistically is a lot more like Khan that he is like Floyd. He's more awkward though being a southpaw and can change direction while he's moving faster than Khan. Khan's hands are faster than his feet, whereas BJS has fast hands and fast feet. If the Golovkin rematch don't happen, this is the next best opponent for Canelo. BJS is fighting in a couple of weeks though so it may be asking a lot for Saunders to fight Canelo less than 3 months after fighting or for GBP to hold off on choosing an opponent for Canelo until after Saunders fights.
