Both fighters are considered as one of the most skilled fighters at the lower weight class. In terms of pure boxing technique who do you think showed better skills in the ring? Lopez was pure textbook skills (like a more refined Mikey Garcia) while Loma possesses technique mixed with athleticism. Lopez, for all his 52 fights that he had, didn't face the kind of quality opponents like Loma but he was more dominant and showed little weaknesses and was never beaten (although he was sort of exposed against Rosendo Alvarez and could have lost in either of the 2 fights they fought). Very hard to pick. Both are masters in the ring and are a joy to watch who exemplifies the sweet science.
finitos boxing is what you try and teach every boxer to do, because you dont need lomas athleticism to perfect that technique. loma is special because he has the speed, reflexes, footwork and athleticism to get away with things that would get other fighters knocked out. in my opinion, finito is the better boxer, but loma is the better fighter.
Very true! Much like comparing JMM and Pernell Whitaker in terms of technique. Both are very skilled but only one of them can be taught. JMM's technique is much preferred for upcoming boxers while Whitaker is mostly reflexes that can't be taught. However, I do think that fighters who fight outside the book tend to show a bit more versatility and less predictability in their style.
Lomachenko is more skilled. Lopez was more technical. There are lots of guys who are highly skilled without being highly technical such as Ali or RJJ.
I prefer Loma for his balance of aggression vs defense. Though I have to add neither is a loser in this debate.
Youre a boxing expert tho aren't you PeeWee you've got EMMANUELLE Stewards autograph. ROFLMAO. You couldn't make tht up lol
Ricardo Lopez was boxing 101, Lomachenko has skills far beyond that. Wilder wants Lopez to come out of retirement to fight him in a mega fight................
