You must have one of the shortest memories on here, don't tell me you've forgotten thread after thread and post after post from Canelo fans like you saying Golovkin was going to get exposed by Canelo and all that rubbish.

What is this? Get it wrong so pretended all the things people like you said before never happened and are forgotten then start again with the same old crap?

It's see through and to be honest embarrassing.

It was relevant to your post.

What is it with this "Sowey" thing?

Serious question, are you an adult? You sound like a left to his own devices 12 year old most of the time.

    How old are you?

I'm guessing 15 years old at a push and I'm not being insulting, that's a genuine guess.

You're definitely not a father because I don't believe you have a woman and probably have never been laid, that's serious now, because no self respecting, decent woman would find a supposed man remotely attractive who uses that word as much as you do and who has your childish mentality.

The internet is just full of strange people :risas3:

No way Golovkin is even close to the biggest hype job, unless you happen to consider Canelo a massive fraud as well. Canelo / GGG odds were +125 / -155 before the first fight, indicating that the majority of people considered them more or less equally matched. This corresponds to winning probabilities of 60.8% GGG and 44.4% Canelo (yes they add up to over 100% - that's how bookies make money). It was a close fight indeed, but fans and journalists generally had it something like 70-80% for GGG, and the rest either draw or Canelo close. Those numbers are better for GGG than suggested by the pre-fight odds.

Recent examples of hyped fighters who turned out not to be elite are guys like Broner, Eubank Jr, Lucian Bute. Slightly older shouts (but still in my time) are Michael Grant, Audley Harrison, Jeff Lacy, Lucian Bute, and Dominick Guinn. Look at the Ring cover for March in the link below for example, and see how the three turned out:

It has to be Broner at #1 because he couldn't even match the success of the previous #1 ie. the fighter he imitated and modeled himself and his entire career on.

    Nice double strike there, Serge.

I myself am very fond of the double and triple strike. You can't beat a good old triple strike

When people said this guy would blow away Hagler , Hopkins and even Andre Ward , then he shows he can barely put a dent in Jacobs and Canelo , the matter of living up to the hype is brought into question wouldn't you say?

I question the hype when he comes onto the world scene claiming to be ducked by all and sundry , then goes scampering the other way when the p4p #1 best in the sport offers him a fight on a seafood platter.
Thats not the actions of somebody living up to the insane level of hype that his fanbase held him to.

Also ask yourself why he can't generate his own mega fight purses?

He pestered and harangued the WBC to force Canelo into a fight so he could get a slice of his multi million pound pie.
He fought Brook for a taste of that sweet SKY BO cash.
They don't stop talking about Murata cos they want to get in on his Tokyo /Fuji TV money.
If he fights Saunders he'll be benefiting from the UK's BT PPV money.

He's supposedly already an ATG and the current p4p #1 yet he's the B sider in terms of draw compared to all the other names around him.
Why can't create his own mega pay days?

No respectable analyst or fan here thought he was going to blow away Hopkins, let alone Hagler or Ward. Trolls and casuals don't count. I agree that for a while there was quite a lot of wild Golovkin threads but a) they're pretty much gone now, and b) at least Golovkin was actually elite. There were also a good number of threads claiming GGG was a complete fraud around that time to balance it out somewhat.

Most of the names I mentioned didn't even make it to elite level. Your argument is that GGG was overhyped, but even if that is accepted it's a big jump from there to being "the biggest hype job of all time" or even of recent time.

    Probably Iron Mike.

One of the most iconic figures in the history of the sport; very mediocre résumé.

GGG really struggling with a guy who wasn't supposed to leave the ring in one piece (Jacobs) really sealed it for me. Immediately after that instead of credit being given to Jacobs for making a he'll of a fight, the "He's old" excuses started becoming rampant in this place.

It might not have been his fault fully, because Martinez ducked him for years, but there were guys in and around his division and around his peak, that were calling him out from 154-168, but he never came to the table for reasons who knows, and stood around at 160 fighting the Wades of the world. That's when the hype job chants started intensifying and you can't blame anybody for it but GGG.

I've talked to plenty of real GGG fans before and they've totally acknowledged that GGG was still untested prior to the Jacobs fight, but I haven't seen much change from before that fight to now, which I believe makes a strong case especially since he's got one of the craziest fan based off all time. Just my opinion of course.
