Why would anyone waste time debating with you when right out of the box you've tore down two of his best wins with obvious bias, lack of respect and lack of having a clue? You only see what you want to see and are very clearly out to diminish. 29 pages wasn't enough last time?
Frazier is a nice win but a big aspect of greatness is dominance. Bowe and Moorer have wins over Holyfield yet neither are considered ATGs. Douglas has a win over Tyson and Schmelling's win over Lewis easily eclipses Foreman's best win. Norton lost to every big hitter he faced. Nobody ranks Shavers an ATG yet he wiped out Norton in quick fashion. Is that really a big win given Norton's issues with bangers? If beating Norton is indicative of greatness how do you explain the Shavers loss?
Guys like Louis, Marciano, Ali, Lewis, etc all managed to establish themselves as the best heavyweights in the world something Foreman was never able to do.
Nope nope nope. It's mainly because fans claim Foreman has the might of 10 men, or he could club a grizzly bear to death with his power, you know, superhero level. Dude is a comic book character who was lucky he never fought Tyson.
I thought Mike might have been greater in someways, but I also thought Mike fighting George was a bad idea. Stylewise it was not a great matchup, and I think George came back in 1987 because he knew his style was good for the smaller Tyson. He could push Tyson back and punch and he was bigger and stronger than Mike.
I think George came back because he saw somebody just as old in Joe Bugner make money on his comeback into the 1980s. He followed Bugner. Their careers were parallel at the start. They shared a lot of early opponents. George and Joe Bugner were both very shrewd. Bugner was able to make comebacks when ever he ran out of money because he was big and strong and experienced enough to get away with it. He also talked himself into big gates. So George reinvented himself as a hamburger loving guy who wanted to represent middle aged fat guys. It was just a sales pitch. His USP. Initially George like Bugner just wanted to build a comeback that led to a big Money fight. I don’t think he cared if he won or lost the big money fight. He just wanted to get there, which was Bugners tried and tested format. George just took it to a higher level. The target was Tyson to start with, but he got more ambitious and confident about his own appeal the further he got. When Tyson dropped out Evander suited him even better. He got a five million dollar per fight deal after the Holyfield fight which was amazing because it allowed him to pick and chose an opponent as if he were a champ already. Tyson was long forgotten about by then. At that time, on that deal, the way the title picture was it was only a matter of time before George could select a suitable champion he might be able to beat. They even got Tommy Morrison up for a vacant title for George, but he blew that one all for Morrison to walk into the jaws of defeat with a 10 fight novice who knocked Tommy out in one round. When Moorer became an accidental champion he became the next target. Moorer was happy to take him because George was a big money fight it’s not like George had to be rated or worthy. He’d lost his last fight.
I think Tyson's foil would be someone with feet of flight like Ali AND the power of Foreman. A big dude who could box, punch, hold and ship bombs.
I think Foreman was stronger than Mike physically and his style would be to hit Mike as Mike is trying to hit him.. I think Mike could hit George and rock him, but I think George's size would help him absorb anything Mike had, and remember George would not back up with Mike, so Mike might be off balance. The style was great for George as Frazier found out.
I dont see how George can be called overrated. In his prime he lost to Ali in a fight where he had terrible advice from his corner and was in a bad state of mind because he wasnt allowed to leave Zaire after he got cut. He lost a very debatable decision to Young. That's it. 10 yrs later he comes back and beats a very good Champ in Moorer by 1 punch KO at what 45? How the #### is he overrated??
