Do you think he could box and dance away from Golovikin like he did against Lemieux? GGG cuts the ring off really well and has power in each hand could Saunders outbox him?

It's possible, but the odds probably reflect how likely that is. 20 to 25%

Golovkin would have had to have slipped a bit and BJS would need to put on his best performance.

    But it is somewhat feasable.

Saunders can't take a big shot, trust me. That's why he prefers to dance and jab and move rather than stand and trade, a shot from a tired eubank in their fight nearly had him down, GGG won't let him run around and dance. A lot of people thought canelo would box GGG's head off but more often than not GGG had stuck canelo on the ropes taking shots. As soon as GGG hurts BJS a bit and has him on the ropes he will beat him up.

i think GGGs footwork is too good to be able to move away from him all night. I think he could beat Canelo on an even playing field though

I still fancy GGG to get the job done at this late stage in his career. BJS will probably take a few early rounds but I would expect the fight to be over after the half way mark. BJS wouldn't put a dent in GGG.

Personally I’d like to see Saunders volleyed from one post to another. I think he’s probably a bully in the outside world and I hate bad mouthing bullies who have no respect! From that you’ll read I’m not a fan of his BUT I’m a Boxing fan and I have to be honest and say I can see a huge upset here. I personally think BJ can fight any style that he needs to win a fight whereas GGG fights one way only and you get what you get from him every time. If BJ wins the first few rounds and builds a little lead he will frustrate GGG at some point and then he has the capability of dancing his way to a win. He is a skilled fighter there is no doubt and he truly believes he is the best so even though he’s a twaat I have to be honest and say this may be a shock in the making.

BJS hasn't got much power to keep GGG off him, GGG is a machine and will keep walking through saunders's punches and getting him on the ropes and unloading, GGG by UD or late stopage

Whoever thought canelo would outbox golovkin was a moron, dude is a pretty average boxer who gets by on size, power and biased judging.

Billy Joe is a far superior boxer but he doesn’t have the size, power or biased judges on his side.

It's a totally different fight, billy is very elusive and golovkin may well not have the legs anymore

The foot and hand speed could be a massive weapon for BJS - yeah GGG carries power but BJS has never looked in trouble when he has taken a shot. He looked in great shape V DL and that should help in handle the power when GGG lands or recover if he's properly shaken.

He wouldn't be able to put a dent in GGG but he can make him move, make him tentative and then beat him to the punch - he's also capable of being very slick when in punching range and he could make GGG miss a bit... I'm not saying its going to happen but with GGG aging bit by bit, I think Saunders is a live underdog.

GGG relentless pressure wasn't there quite so much V Alveraz for differing reason's but at his age, he may not fancy having to chase someone who's so much faster on their feet.

Saunders has been stepped up well in his career and looked at his best last time out Vs another big punching, come forward fighter. One with his own limitations admittedly (1 dimensional, doesn't really cut the ring off, short reach)

That said GGG does have fight changing power and pressure and some inventive attacks couple that with a Granite chin and good engine and he's a nightmare to face.

It's a fight i want to see the styles should mesh well

All these descriptions I’m reading about Lemieux being a basic, big punching plodder yet I didn’t see him described as that prior to the BJS fight. The fella was gonna destroy BJS apparently. Then BJS puts on an absolute schooling. It was a beautiful exhibition of boxing but now i’m reading descriptions of him apparently being a runner? He’s never run in a fight, and stands within range of his opponent.

@phil rowe There has been no evidence in all of BJS’s fights of him having a dodgy chin. He’s never even been put down on the canvas. Why would he stand and trade, he’s a high skilled, defensively slick fighter. To stand and trade when you can fight like that is just stupid and pointless and whilst standing and trading might be the measure of fighting it is not the measure of boxing and that’s exactly what this sport is, hit and don’t be hit.

This thing about him being feather fisted is laughable. He just doesn’t plant his feet. I’ve seen a few fights of his where he could have forced a stoppage if he’d gone for it.

Regarding GGG, again it’s about career timing. Saunders is hitting his peak, GGG is past his best. Even so, he is still an elite level fighter and ATG. He is there to be hit though, and I can see BJS winning more rounds than him by outboxing him. Just to conclude, GGG fades in the championship rounds of fights. He can not sustain the intensity throughout the full 12 rounds.

I suppose you have to credit BJS and his tactics and his level of performance V Lemieux it didn't have the volume of Calzaghe Lacy but Lemieux for an experienced pro barely put a glove on Saunders.. He really did make Lemieux look awful

I just think that GGG cuts off the ring better than anyone BJS has ever faced. And can Saunders take a punch? Lemieux didn’t really land other than that has Saunders been in with a big puncher?

    GGG via TKO 8.
