This is a good post. You have made some excellent points that stand up very well and I respect that.

The bit about Comeback George is less convincing but still you used a good angle to frame those points.

It was the smart thing to do. Everything George did in his comeback was the smart thing to do. I just think he gets a pass for a lot of it because of his age etc. Being fair to George he was entitled to exploit this and why not?

Micheal Moorer legitimately won the title at a time he was not considered the Worlds best. I think you had to live through this to fully appreciate the landscape. Whilst everyone was a amazed and happy for George, there was no illusion about him being the best whilst Bowe, Lewis and Holyfield were on the scene. This was an astonishing interlude during the Lewis/Bowe/Holyfeild era.

Nobody would have minded had George bowed out gracefully after achieving his goal but he didn’t. And nobody bought what he did afterwards. It is possible to make an acceptable case on paper for Grimsby, Briggs, Shultz and saverese if he won all of those fights but a lot of people think he didn’t beat Shultz or Saverese. But that’s okay for how old he was. No shame in that. But Grimsby lasted one round with Jimmy Thunder in his next fight. Just about nobody accepted George was a legitimate best heavyweight in the world at that time.

WOW, look how slow Lyle was. Imagine Tyson teeing off on overrated Foreman's dome?

Lyle was taller with more reach and probably physically stronger than tyson.

Lyle had an easier time catching george because the height and reach, frazier also was better than lyle but who did better against george?

I know but i am answering what you said.. Even if tyson was better than lyle(i think that he was better than lyle) it does not guarantee that he would better against foreman.
To be honest i also think that tyson would be more dangerous than frazier because he was better in the mid distance and faster not a pressure fighter, i think that george would prevail but both fighters would get rocked in the process

The main thing I'm greatful for is the available footage, primary sources and information on all fighters in the past, we've got it lucky my friend! There's still a bountiful amount of knowledge yet to be unearthed that will hopefully come to light over the next 30/40/50 years and this is not intended in a mean way, but some of the posters here might not even be around to see it, which is honestly such a shame! If footage of Greb or more of Langford emerged all of a sudden 30 years from now, I'd feel like the luckiest twat alive, but at the same time a little bit heart broken that some of the older guys that have spent their lives following this great sport weren't around to see it.
