Excuse? Perhaps you should read Walcott’s excellent Bio and educate yourself. The truth of the matter is the 1930s Walcott was a father of 5 who had no time to train for boxing. His entire day was spent picking up extra shifts so his kids could eat. Walcott usually didn’t have enough left over for himself. Walcott said of his time in the 30s “I went to bed hungry every night”. When he wasn’t working grueling shifts doing manual labor, he was picking up fights on 24 hr notice. In both the Simon and Ettore fights, Walcott was well ahead on points before he became exhausted against Simon and combined with ettores good body attack Walcott wore out. Did lack of training, eating, and 24 hr notice have something to do with those losses? You decide.

In 1945, Felix Bocchichio changed Walcott’s life. Gave him money Allowing him to quit his job and train full time with Dan florio.

If you think the Walcott of the 30s was the same version who fought Louis in 47, then present your case.

But let’s talk about Patterson and all the early round knockouts he had! Hmmm let’s see....London went 11 rounds, Harris went 13 rounds, Jackson went 22 rounds
, Machen 12 rounds, bonavena 10 rounds, quarry 22 rounds, Ellis 15 rounds....yeah that Patterson was certainly a fast starter

“Old Louis”. Louis was younger than Walcott, and I’d take the 1946-1948 louis over Patterson any day of the week. Louis knockout over Mauriello was devastating showcasing he still had his offensive firepower. His 6 punch combination of Walcott in 1948 was a better combination than anything patterson ever put together. Patterson couldn’t take a punch against elite punchers, and he wouldn’t be able to against Louis.

Marciano, slower than Patterson sure. But that’s one attribute. Marciano hit much harder, was much stronger, had much better stamina, was more intelligent, and was far more durable. Marciano took shots off Walcott Patterson could only dream of taking . Marciano a much tougher fighter to beat than Patterson.

And what about Charles? Pretty similar to Patterson except more skilled and more durable. Walcott beat him twice, and cleaned his clock with one punch.

Of course it all comes back to you saying Patterson knocks him out. “early”. When in Walcott’s best years 1945-1952 was Walcott ever stopped early? How about Patterson, when did he ever stop a hall of fame heavyweight early? Walcott had elite footwork, he had elite head movement, he danced, he was very hard to catch early.

Yes. Walcott was an excellent counter puncher who picked apart atgs such as Louis and Marciano. I reckon he'd do the same here since Patterson wasn't as good as the other two. His chin was on the lower end as well.
