George Foreman , overrated ?

I think Foreman would make it into the top 10 but i dont think he could beat Joshua or the post Stewart Wladimir.

 

I think he beats both , though Joshua may still improve.

 

Foreman is not 3-1 against ATGs who on earth would these guys be? Only Frazier comes close to being an ATG though for me he isn't. Norton and Moorer wouldn't crack the top 30.

Vitali was the best heavyweight in the world between Lewis's last fight and the end of 2004 so about a year and a half. From 2008 to 2012 he was the second best heavyweight in the world.

 

As for Tyson he beat nearly twice as many top contenders as Foreman thus giving him a much deeper resume. He also can claim to have been the best heavyweight in the world during the late 80s. He was past it against Lewis so that fight is irrelevant when assessing him.

 

Feel free to list a minimum of 30 heavyweights above Norton.

Ok you've admitted you don't class Frazier as an ATG. The rest of the world does which of course gives Foreman 3-1. Incredible really but moving on -

Do you consider Willie Pep great? Sandy Saddler? How about Kid Gavilan? Holyfield? James Toney? Griffith? Benitez?

If you've only ever heard of Toney and Holyfield out of that lot just answer per those two.

 

Charles and marciano are two of the top 5 opponents he faced. Louis was ranked #1 in his comeback and was knocking top contenders out. If he was getting beat up by journeymen and unable to accomplish anything youd have a point.

He had a losing record agaibst atgs, get over it. He lost to schmeling, walcott was robbed, both of those occured in his prime so even if u want to go that route hes 2-2 and foreman is 3-1.

Joe fought a a bunch of bums before ww2, never regained the title, and ended up broke. George Foreman regained the title, had a winning record against atgs, and became a millionare. He had the better career, period.

 

Norton is an atg dumbass hes ranked 22 in ring magazine and is in the hall of fame for crying out loud.

George beat frazier twice, norton once, and lost to ali. That means hes 3-1 against the best of his era. Get over it.

Frazier being an ATG would give Foreman one win against an ATG not 3. None of Foremans other wins have resumes that would put them at ATG status.

Foreman lost to Young so no not 3-1 against the best of his era. Jess Willard is in the HOF and so is Ingemar Johannson if Norton being in the HOF makes him an ATG than so are Willard, Baer, Schmelling, etc.

 

Joe Louis made 25 title defenses. How many did Foreman manage? Louis avenged his loss to Schmelling, Foreman never avenged a defeat. Suggesting these guys are close careerwise is frankly insane.

I can't believe someone is suggesting Foreman's career accomplishments are even in the same stratosphere as Joe Louis it's so ridiculous I honestly didn't think anyone, even Foreman himself would have suggested such a thing. Louis beat more than 3 times as many ranked opponents as Foreman, 3 TIMES, and dominated the division for 13 years in which he suffered one defeat that was subsequently avenged brutally, he also set the record for title defenses which has yet to be broken even today more than a half century later. It's an insult to Louis to compare him with someone like Foreman.
