So you admit Dempsey hit Sharkey low at the end...which he did...and you’re willing to forget about it? Kind of bias don’t you think? Does Dempsey land that left hook without going low on Sharkey? Doubt it. It was a very dirty move by Dempsey but clever...the ref didn’t do his job.

You are exaggerating the bad body beating I have watched this fight many times ...Sharkey was on his way to a clear cut points victory

    Dempsey Sharkey

    Round 1- Sharkey.
    Round 2- Sharkey
    Round 3- Sharkey
    Round 4- Sharkey
    Round 5- Dempsey
    Round 6- Sharkey

    Controversial knockout round 7

    Scorecard: 5 Rounds to 1 59-55 Sharkey

    * Dempsey badly hurt in round 1
    * Dempsey lands a good right hand to head in round 3 then is stunned by a sharkey combination
    * Dempsey hurt again in round 6 by uppercut then combination
    * Dempsey’s body attack was pretty good but it wasn’t scoring enough points and sharkey was still in complete control beating Dempsey to the punch time and time again

    • Sharkey dominated the early rounds. “I thought he was going to knock me out,” Dempsey admitted afterward.
    • Broadcaster Graham McNamee told radio listeners that Dempsey was "groggy" and appeared to be "going" after a Sharkey barrage in the first, the third, and again in the sixth.
    • James Dawson of the New York Timesreported that Sharkey had "badly outboxed Dempsey," leaving the former champion to "flounder around the ring, flat-footed, bewildered, and staggering like a blind man finding his way."
    • Harvey Woodruff of the Chicago Tribuneconsidered Dempsey "finished" in the fourth and a "gory sight."

I gave my round by round scorecard and described key moments in the fight. More than you offered. Post your scorecard

We definitely don’t agree here. Like I said Dempsey’s body attack was decent, but not great..he still wasn’t winning rounds and not hurting shArkey. Sharkey won round 6 and hurt Dempsey. Sharkey was on his way to a unanimous decision. If sharkey was headed to ktfo then why did he win round 6? Dempsey went low In round 7 and sharkey grabbed his nuts and turned to the referee.. if you think that’s clean with no controversy then I don’t know what to tell ya.

Too bad Dempsey needed a few uppercuts to the balls to do it and Couldn’t beat him fair and square.

“Sharkey's only true success was a barrage of punches that got Dempsey in a bit of trouble for a few seconds in the 1st”

What a crock of ****..Round 3 and Round 6 Dempsey was hurt again by sharkey combinations. And round 4 sharkey won clearly.

Not disputing the official result. Otherwise Dempsey proved he could fuk a guy up who wasn't looking.

Not many dominant champions beat the heir to their throne.

Joe Louis and Lennox Lewis are two other examples.

Dempsey won a degree of redemption for his lacklustre reign here in my eyes.

You constantly say this and it’s flawed

    From Edward

Actually Tunney was the heir. Sharkey managed to win the title years later on a very controversial decision over Schmeling. Does Dempsey rise or fall on the official votes in this fight? Would he be a lesser fighter if Schmeling got the decision? Hard for me to see this. What if it were reversed and Sharkey clearly won but the bad decision went to Schmeling. Should Dempsey's stock then fall?

Schmeling and sharkey stiffed each other out of the title once a peice, so that is even Stevens.

How exactly did Schmeling stiff Sharkey??? It was a 4 round fight where Sharkey hit Schmeling low in the balls. We have no idea how the other 11 rounds would have gone. Schmeling was a notorious slow starter

The second fight, we know Schmeling won but was robbed

So it’s ok to hit a guy in the balls before you strike him in the jaw?
