Lineal does not mean better. Baldomir was a smaller, lesser version of Margarito. I can say with a high degree of certainty that he would have beaten Judah, Spinks, Mayorga and Baldomir.

also, lineal means somehting. cotto tossed the wbc middle and STILL defended and commanded more of a huge pot, so...there is that.

Judah would have been the easier fight of the two, but they both get stopped by Margo.

Margarito was Top Rank; that’s the real issue at hand. Floyd beat the man who beat the life out of Margarito.

Lineal means you're the champ in the division, and it doesn't matter how high your degree of certainly is ...Baldomir was considered the champion and Margarito (who was quite pleased to face the likes of Kyvelos and Gomez during that time instead of any of the listed champions) was simply another titleholder whose best win during Mayweather's three fight run was against the relatively untested Cintron.

You are putting too much spin into this(

LoL ). Both Margarito and Baldomir were title holders, don't let the lineal title fool you, it's nice to have but it only means that you beat the man, who beat the man, who beat the man, who beat the man that at one point was the "unified champ". It did not mean Baldomir was the better champ or the biggest threat to Floyd at the time, who just about everyone can tell you, it was Margarito.

And are you implying that Baldomir would have beaten AM?

Look who's pretending to be Mr. Boxing Finance, an idiot that thinks Concreto is innocent. Going by your logic then, Baldomir ended up with $20k. Just as much as you make in a year of delivering frozen pizzas.

It's remarkable how shameless you cabbies are.

Ya this is, imo, an underrated fight in terms of how hard it was for Pac... and how good Marg was in this. Marg is a nightmare for fighters he has a good size advantage over and against Pac it was damn near 20lbs in the ring.

I think Pac wins with or without Margs broken eye. But Im sure the late rounds would have seen him take a beating.

I also have an * next to this fight somewhat because I honestly do wonder how much Pacs stacked wraps played a part.

Anyways, imo this was the last time I saw a truly prime Pac. And was the last very good version of Marg as well.

I am saying that at that point, a victory over the guy who was currently the champ, and who had legitimately defeated a very talented previous champ would have meant more than a guy who had generally feasted upon second raters to that point in his career.

AM would have been a nice scalp for Floyd at the time, sure. But Floyd wouldn't have been lineal champ after beating him- and, in the scheme of things, that means more than facing a guy who would have been dismissed as being another run-of-the-mill brawler had Floyd won (and I can speak with a high degree of certainty that he would have rather easily).

I don't necessarily believe Baldomir would have beaten AM, but up until the time that he lost to Mayweather and Margo faced Clottey, his two previous wins were considered to be better than those registered by Margarito. Margarito's resume had yet to truly match his reputation, at that point.

(In fairness, the Martinez win looks great on Margarito's resume...but it was against a pre-prime version below the former's best weight. Only so much stock you can put into that victory.)

he HAS been posting links up. there were open trials and he was PRESENTED with the wraps, as well as capetillo who took all the blame. the evidence is on the record you choose to ignore, and willful ignorance is -i find- a comfort people without a solid foundation
