It is you who do not know your history, the racist's people of the south were primary UK decedents. That is a fact. There is a reason why most African American names sound very similar to the surnames in the UK as they were the slave masters. DUH.

It'd say the fact that Stallone was a big part in Jack Johnson getting the pardon really removes any case of opportunism. He's obviously going to want to make money, but it seems like it's from the right place.

Did they not tend to put on accents back then in recordings? His speach does sound a little forced, so I'd say that's certainly a possibility.

They actually stopped doing that in the UK during WWII because they realised the real regional accents would be much harder for the Germans to copy than the standard radio English, just an interesting fact.

I think to large extent a lot of the southerners were from Scotland, Ireland and North England. Scotland and Ireland with the potato fammine and highland clearances had a lot of people leaving.

Stallone lobbied for Johnson’s release, he’s not going to show the Johnson character warts and all after having the President Grant him a pardon.
This will be a total heroic portrayal of Johnson. Which sadly will all but erase the authentic Johnson from the public’s mind.
Still Stallone is being undersold as a filmmaker he actually knows his craft and will get the proper funds to make an entertaining movie.

 

Jason Statham should be cast as jeffries

 

He sounds much more like a statesman from the East coast than a black boxer from Texas. You can also hear him speak at an exhibition match he "fought" wit Joe Jeanette some time in the forties.
