The IBF has fight night rehydration limits. The others should follow suit

To call Loma a bully for 130 is nonsense though, Loma is not a lightweight, plain and simple. Look at Easter, Campbell, Linares, Mikey. All far bigger than Loma.

I agree. I think they should go back to the same day. but start the weigh-ins exactly 24 hours before the fight. If the doors open at 7pm on Sat, they should begin to weigh in 7pm on Friday, and every fight weighs in 30 minutes later or so.

That’s the thing, you don’t have to. You are free to move up or down to any weight your body can handle. All that matter is you make the weight and your opponent does.

That's how I feel, everyone comes in a weight class under what they should, if you can come in two weight classes under, good for you, with the current rules. But see my above post, they should do something.

The guys who really have the disadvantage are the guys from poor countries, they don't have all the high-level diuretics and techniques, it was like when that Ghanian guy who just fought Gilberto at 168 looked like a MWT in the ring with a CWT.

You don't have to but then you risk facing guys much bigger than you naturally. The system at the moment is not perfect, that's what we're saying. I don't blame the guys for weight bullying, blame the game not the player.

I don’t think that is why, that’s the reason they gave but from what I read there was a big fight which was cancelled and it cost them a lot of money. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Because if that were the case then why is Olympics still do the same day weigh in?

You also give your body the opportunity to come in healthy though? I agree the game is messed up but it’s the game and none of these guys were around during the times of same day weigh ins so everyone’s had equal opportunity to learn the system and play it. They can’t mad coz some people can manipulate better than others.

Olympians fight multiple times in a 2 week period and are required to weigh in before each fight so they don't put much weight on. That's why guys like whats-his-name who fought Lemieux and Quillin and Murata struggled so much.

He signed up to fight and he knew exactly what he was up against, seems fair to me. If I cry about that then I may as well cry that he doesn’t have the nutritionist that his opponent has or the training facilities or the powerful promoter etc.

If he’s too small he needs to move his ass down to MW, if he can’t then tough. I keep it consistent, if Ramirez gets his ass whooped because he cut the wrong way, he gets no tears from me, he should have fought in a weight division more comfortable at that point.

Really, if a big fight is cancelled it does not matter if it is 16 hours before or 32 hours before, you still cannot get a decent replacement.

Well now we're going in circles mate, the health factor is minimized when you're given that much chance to recover, yeah, in long term, doing these things may be unhealthy but on the fight night, it doesn't seem to be that much of a problem. With same day weighs in, I don't have an issue with these mass weight regains, you're pretty much risking death to gain this advantage.

But if you just come back and look at the basic premise, what is the point of weight classes and weigh ins? The very reason they exist is to prevent size mismatches. At the moment, these things are failing to do their jobs, too often do you see fighters in the ring with massive size disparities.

I'm not crying about it, I'm just explaining it. The rules stated that Ramirez and the other guy were both no more than 168 35 hours before the fight, and they were.
